  1. Zidane had been training recalled indoor for about one year, and fly on harness for approximately five months, and from his confidence level I only let him freefly on my neighborhood, in the other places, he still uses his harness to get acclimate
  2. I have trained him recall, from tree, from top of theladder, any other high places. But i do agree with your concern, grey have a greater cautiousness than my conures so I have to put extra attention on his confidence. So far emergency recall had help me a lot
  3. Zidane's doing his flighted retrieve training, this time I am using a lego cube
  4. The boomerang flight recall training does help once when he chased me out thru the door. i get home from an out of town duty for about a week, and on the first day i reached home I hang up with my fids immediately. I played with the conures first (they are settling in my home earlier than the others), apparently zidane missed me that much so he flew outside willing to play with me also. i was outside with the conures (they are freeflighted) in the left side of my home, zidane suddenly flew straightly through the door. I rushed a call and he suddenly turned doing his boomerang flight as we always train..... landed in my arm, asking for cuddles.... pfiiuhhhhh.
  5. thank you guys.... today zidane is learning very basic skill of turning flight in the corner. i stand in the other side of corner so he couldn't see me, as i call his name and ask him to come he's confidence enough to launch from his perches fly toward me... small step not even a perfect move but it does make me very happy knowing his confidence grows constantly.
  6. you always make me go "wow" with your pictures.... I know nothing in photography, and now you make me want to learn it.
  7. Zidane , my CAG is 1,5 yrs old. he came to me a year ago with clipped wings. We (including my son n wife) had to take over his parrents' role by teaching him to fly. these are the example of the fun_loaded moment we have with him. [video=youtube;0ZCYM-efnIU]
  8. It's a mollucan king parrot, could be found in Maluku island and some islands in papua Indonesia, might be in aussie also. A little bit bigger than lorries family in size. known as a shy bird, hard to be tamed as for the wild caught. Local price jakarta is under 100 USD. Endangered species here in Indonesia, you'll need a license to have it as a pet.
  9. I read in Marry Sue athan's book, that grey has a nature that perceived what is coming from above as predator, in your case you put an additional tense by chasing him arround. I agree with what Danmcq said. Seem to me this is resetting the relationship from the beginning, a gentle approach, I think, will fix the relationship. Be patient... be positive.
  10. I read somewhere in the internet, said that recall behavior must be maintained, not just one bahavior once reinforced and will last forever. I found this quite true. Couples months Jerry, my SC, and me passed this session, we're just going places with her perched on me... yeah sometime she flew to the tree and back to me without recall, but I'm afraid when something happened and I do need call her ASAP she would not respond imediately. Jerry flew to her cage instead of come to me, but then she come to me right away. After a whille she's maintaining her good success rate 90% of 10 flight in FTM. Does anyone have the same issue on ftm success rate??
  11. Hooper needed approximately one week to get the idea of recall. I teach her indoor, only 15 minutes each day. but once she knew it, we still need to train her regularly to maintain such behavior.the most important thing is bonding. Play, cuddling, training and let her knows that we love her. I have free flighted my sun conure, hope I could do the same thing with Hooper.
  12. Hooper, my yellow sided conure has been living with us for one year. She is clipped when arrived and her wings had not completely grown. Though had her wings clipped she could fly for about 2 meters LOL... I'm willing to let her fly freely outdoor. She had a steady personality, calm and confidence if we are (me n my son) arrround watching her. Sorry for the blurred part, my son take the video shoot with my handheld.
  13. wow.. Marcus is very big and beautiful as well! My zidane (he is 9 months now) is not that big.. Mmmm the left toe seemed need a grooming session Thank for the greyt photos!!
  14. As a father of sons and three parrots I want them get along very well... Sorry for posting too much photos...
