  1. Where are the best deals (pref free shipping) on the web for bird food? Local stores don't carry the Harrisons so I'm thinking of buying it online.
  2. I wish our CAG would swing, he wong even sit on it! And it's such a cool swing, big manzanita swing w/ little plastic pacifiers hanging from it. I don't think he was given much enrichment in his previous home, doesn't play w/ any toy I put in his cage, kinda sad

One of my guilty pleasure, slightly obsessed w/ Disco! https://www.facebook.com/DiscoTheParakeet

If you want to fall in love with Budgies, just watch DISCO!! He's incredible! Good luck w/ your new "baby bird" Eshana
  5. My CAG LOVES coconut water! Ironically he has no interest in the flesh so I just buy the bottled coconut water, Nirvana has the lowest sugar content and also taste the best.
  6. Is in BIG trouble (my fault) I left him for 2 minutes in my office and come back to find the box my Salmon Pink Birdeater lives in capsized ON THE FLOOR and little Spiderman nowhere to be found
  7. That's sad news, sorry for you loss... but you provided Tumba with a long & wonderful life with his family!
  8. My male CAG does the same thing, pants, drops wings, sways, regurgitates... and people will always say "Oh it's because he loves you sooo much! But don't give attention or affection while he's doing it!" Yeah well guess what, I have a Grey I have to admire from a distance because it's all he does if I want to interact with him! Pretty frustrating if you ask me (For both of us)
  9. Gotcha Capo but there is no rule in the porcine community (wild or domesticated) that states "Only pigs over 500lbs may raid orchards!" I've yet to see a sow make her piglets sit on the sidelines while she alone gloms the fallen fruit. And you stating "One apple seed can do much more harm to parrot then 20 apples to pig" is simply your opinion but miles away from a fact. I appreciate everyone's input here, thank you!
  10. I don't go out of my way to feed him apple seeds, just noticing that he seems to feel the only worthy part of the apple is the seeds! I've managed to stay alive for almost 40 years and I've yet to find evidence of a person or animals who has been "poisoned" by apple seeds, or any other seed for that matter. I was also raised watching farm animals and wild animals gorge themselves on whole fruit... pigs, horses & deer in apple orchards, birds stripping cherry and apricot trees so I'm not convinced that consuming your fill of them means instant death. Apple seeds

It's apple season here in the northeast and I love being able to buy from local orchards! My CAG goes cuckoo for fresh apple juice and cider but when it comes to the actual apple, all he does each & every time is buzz through to the core and eat the seeds only! So obviously I don't bother wasting it anymore by giving him a whole, half or even a slice of apple, I just enjoy it myself & toss him the core! Anyone else experience this w/ their Grey?
  12. Ok so it's FAR from dog food, all human grade ingredients. I caught Christian in the box the other day, happily snacking on this stuff and I was shocked to say the least because I have not been able to get him to eat ANY vegetables, fruit yes veggies YUCK he says! SO I took a tablespoon of the Honest Kitchen, rehydrated it and left it out on the counter and he ate all of it.. is the a safe treat for him or even something he can have regularly? http://www.thehonestkitchen.com/products/preference/
  13. Hello FLockers! So I need some advice regarding Christian (we never changed his name) He's very sweet and adores me (a little too much) so I have to at time limit our interaction. But he always comes to me, and lets me put him away, shower him etc. Problem, he HATES my husband. My husband has never even tried to interact w/ Chris because he wanted him to bond to me, which he has but when my husband is home all Chris does is stalk & try to attack him. Here's the really big prob, when I notice Chris making his move and I go to "referee" and get him away from my hubby before he strikes, he bites me and does it to hurt/draw blood. Last night as I was cooking dinner for all of us (pasta w/ lentils) one minute Chris was in the kitchen w/ me then I hear hubby call "Babe come get him he's getting too close!" Sure enough Chris was in between the couch (where hubby was lying) and the coffee table, as soon as he saw me he bowed his head & clicked like he knew he was busted but when I said, "let's go get yums" and bent to pick him up (he extended his foot to me) he took my finger w/ his foot and then bit me, so hard I screamed and tossed him onto the couch then realized that I practically threw him onto hubby I panicked & tossed a blanket over him and took him to his cage. He put his beak right through my nail bed, it's ugly. My hubby freaked, wants Chris gone immediately. Now this is the 3rd time he has done this to me, same situation all 3 times, drew blood all 3 times. It's like he gets pissed that I interfere with him attacking hubby so he takes it out on me, does that make sense? Anyone have any experience with this? I have not said a word to him all day, complete silent treatment. Only tossed a handful of pellets in his cage this am, no eye contact nothing, when I came him this evening I said nothing and he's trying all his calls but I won't respond. I'm not scared of him but I don't think this is a behavior that can change. And if the only solution is to never let him out when my hubby is home, well that kinda suck for Chris because we work somewhat similar hours. There is only one day during the week that I'm home and hubby is not. What is the proper way to discipline these guys, I know w/ dogs you have the catch them the instant in happens not a moment later but all I did was throw him in his cage (yes I'm very ashamed to say I literally tossed him into his cage, blanket and all:( ) Any thoughts would really be appreciated, I feel terrible about this.
  14. I have little to no experience being a total newbie but I recently purchased an older CAG who for all I can gather has been fully flighted most of his life. I know the risks of losing him are ever present and I even stress a bit when I put him outside in his locked cage for sun. And I stress indoors always making sure the ceiling fans are off when he is loose... but because my only experience thus far is w/ him being flighted I don't know if I could take that away from him. He's amazing to watch, he can stop midair & hover and turn... pretty cool. He seems to be pretty smart about his surroundings too using judgement about when it's better/safer to walk instead of fly. I really hope I never have to make the decision but I certainly understand & resect those that prefer to keep their fids clipped.
