  2. thank you all for all your wonderful advice. It has provoked new thoughts in me and I can assure you, I sure do want to be a grey owner soon! I am still reading a lot but there's no knowledge better than practical knowledge, hence my silly questions Im making preparations to bring one of em in soon and once I do, you guys will be hearing a lot from me. Luvparrots, the cat on my shoulders is no longer a threat to anyone, he dwells in Heaven with the rest of the creatures who beat us to it!
  3. hi all finally got my hands on two CAG chicks. the shop owner says that they're approx 4 month olds. pls see pics. both of them seem to be eating on their own, esp sunflower seeds. they're still being hand fed though. one of them (one on the right in the pic) is more hungry than the other coz he plunges to the hand feed mix more than the other, theo other one (on the left) has to be fed. im not sure which one to pic. the one thats more active and always hungry, or the more content one (who i suppose is eating well on his own)? whats the best way to hand feed them? they really pinch really hard when they sit on my hand though.
  4. Thank you very much for your sincere advice. What's ur take on a TAG?
  5. Thanks a lot Fairy, that's what i gathered as well. Waiting for the others' reply and esp Qweevox's. Doesn't anyone have any experience in taming wild greys here? I also understand from my net study, that these parrots start to talk at about 1 yr of age. well, i guess the TAG's a better option for me at this point, eh? but nonetheless, the Congo sure looks a lot more beautiful generally. Ho well, u cant have it all eh?
  6. Hi again, would any of you know a good site where I will be able to see good pictures and images of Timnehs and Congos together to compare them visually? I'm sure it'l come in handy to other users as well. Thanks in advance. Shaji

  8. ok, I'm still not able to find a decent price for a tame grey. as i mentioned earlier, my concern is it's basic character, it has to be socialable & friendly. I have been researching on the internet and most experts say that the less popular Timneh is more accepting and friendly in general as a natural character in it's behaviour. I'm in a dilemma whether to get a TAG or a CAG, what's your take on the TAG Fairy? Mind you, both birds are available to me, but neither are tame. The TAG is about 7 months old and the CAG is about 17 months old. I'l have to train regardless which one i get, I guess the 7 month old TAG would be a safer bet in this case. Say what guys? Shaji
  9. Hi Qweevox, thank you very much for ur reply. I was very informative.. I'm going to take my research further based on the input im getting from other experienced keepers like urself. u will be hearing more from me for sure.
  10. Hi again! Is it possible to tame a young grey, say about 2 month old? I live in India and most of the african greys sold here are not hand tame, and even if they are, their price doubles. I do not want to get an older one as I personally want a chick to grow in my presence & teach it what i want. I am planning to get myself an african grey real soon (hopefully) and before I do, I'd like to have all the information I need with the facts in place rather than bleeding my fingers by learning on the job. Regards, Shaji
  11. Hi all, I've been doing a little research on the net before i plan to get myself a gray. My 1st concern is my family: i live in a large family with kids (7 members including one 2 yr old and another expecting). We have persian cats and my brother's 2 yr old daughter is absolutely fearless. She loves animals. Now, considering all this, which specie should i go for, a Timneh or a Congo? I heard somewhere that even though the CAGs look biger and more appealing, they cant be trusted with children, etc and will be only one person pets, whereas the TAG's the opposite and very social and moderate. Kindly suggest experts. PS: can a 2 month untamed congo be tamed after he's bought?
