Aww Sully looks like he really enjoyed it. Such a pretty TAG! Oo! I saw those too - but I assumed they would be too big for Dayo - Nice to see that they are just the right size for a TAG. I got the smaller ones for Dayo... Then un-twisted it lol

Woooooooow some people are amazing and NOT in a good way. Its a great thing that you are trying to do! Best of luck in your efforts.

We started taking him outside as soon as he had all his feathers, small excursions at first, then once he got a bit bigger we got his harness. He did VERY well with the harness and in training him for the harness we take him on walks in the evening when it cools down and taking him to friends' patio parties, pet smart, the local farmers market and restaurants here that are pet friendly and have a patio! He was a bit skittish from time to time, but holding him close and telling him what things were ("its okay Dayo, its a car") each time we took him out his fear subsided. At this time he is a very brave, curious boy! He was in awe of the woods, the sounds, the trees.. everything. He sat for hours at a time just looking and chirping. He REALLY wanted to play with the bugs - lol. I wish more than anything I would have been able to put him in the stream near our spot. I was just so unsure of the water content so I kept him clear of it.

I am by NO means an expert, but we got Dayo around the same age he is now a very healthy happy 17 week old. We introduced both his pellet and small fresh vegetables as soon as we got him home - he was very curious and moving around well, so we wanted to make sure he was acclimated to his food bowls and different textures/tastes. Just be sure to change/remove any fresh veggies after a few hours. (and keep them on the side of the box with no heat under it) As far as cage goes, if at all possible, but the box inside the cage for a few hours a day so he can get used to his cage. If the box will not fit (Dayos did not fiit lol) After about a week or two (once he was acclimated to us and a bit more comfortable and actually had some feathers lol) we lined the cage with newspaper and a towel and put some of his favorite toys in there and let him sit in there for a few hours at a time. Hope this helps! Would love t see some pictures of the baby!!

Awesome video! What a beautiful bird (and beautiful surroundings!)

Thanks for all the compliments all! He is my pride and joy. He is only 17 weeks at this point, but has stolen our hearts. Morana: I apologize, I didn't read your question correctly - yes, the "plain" rawhide are safe for birds make a fantastic chew toy for them - they are small and can be taken apart like in the picture. We are currently trying to train Dayo to chew on "his" things and not ours - so the rawhides are perfect to hand to him when he starts chewing things he is not supposed to. Just be sure to get the "plain" ones - often they are flavored or dipped in various substances to give them taste/color. Hope this helps!

Yes, that is a plain rawhide bone, it normally looks like a stick, but with it sort of twisted. I un raveled it for him

Hello All Just got back from a camping trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains of TN. This was Dayo's first long trip and first over night camping experience. He did really well ! We stopped this morning in the Great Smoky Mountains and I was able to get a few great pics of him with the mountains and morning sun in the background. lolol I got this one the other night, he was laying in my lap playing with a rawhide bone..I untwisted it which made it LOTS more fun

Its not just going out of town that is the motivation, its the fact that we have lost a bird to flying away and don't want to go through that again. We just wanted to make sure to give him ample time to fledge and build his confidence. We will be gone Wednesday afternoon - Sunday afternoon. Thank you for your compliments on "Mr Pink Pants" I just love him!

Hello All As you can see by the attached pic - Dayo is getting bigger and we have not had his wings clipped at this point. A bit of background: He is 15 weeks old now, and flying quite well (including hovering and landing exactly where he wishes.) Although he is harness trained - we feel it would be a good idea to have his wings clipped. We have a condo with two doors and plenty of traffic ( his big brother a mini dachshund that goes out both the back and front doors and friends/neighbors that stop by often ). After losing our Quaker to flying away - having the same thing happen again would just be too much to endure. With that being said, we are also going to a family wedding out of town in September. We have friends/family that will be here to help take care of Dayo - but of course not to the extent he is currently used to (my boyfriend works from home, and my job has also afforded me this luxury lately so he is out of the cage playing with us most of the day.) We feel it is important to have him clipped prior to our trip - but my question is should we look into doing it sooner, rather than waiting until a few days before the trip and having two major stresses thrust upon him at once? Any insight/suggestions would be most welcomed. Thanks for reading! Beth

He is a TAG. Thank you for the compliments, I thought I was just partial - since I am head over heals about him. He has had no discharge or (lots of) sneezing and seems to be in great health otherwise. We have been very careful with handfeeding and now graduating him to big bird food (Roudybush pellets, fresh veggies, fruits and I have also started sprouting seeds for him.) I am planning on taking him out to friends' this weekend - I will be sure to post more pics - until then, here is my friend Mindy feeding him some banana. lol

Greetings All Dayo is growing up quite quickly 13 .5 weeks now My concern is that his nostrils are not "normal" As you can see by the picture below, they are not black like the majority of pictures of Grey's I have seen. They have been this way since the day we picked him up from the breeder. We assumed that it was dander due to feathering, but now that he is fully feathered - they are still the same color. He is not sneezing a lot (hardly ever. although after a sneeze they did clear out a tiny bit for a day or so) or having any sort of discharge (nor has he.) Any advise is greatly appreciated.

I was searching this morning for information on fresh herbs that are safe (and good) for parrots. The only "lists" I was able to find were on Quaker Parrot and Cockatiel forums. Would the same herbs be safe for AGs as well? Specifically I am looking for information on Rosemary. I have a huge bush of it near my garden gate and I know it has never been treated with any sort of pesticide. I *thought* I had seen a picture somewhere with a grey eating a fresh sprig of it. I just want to make sure it is 100% safe and good for Dayo before I give it to him. Thanks in advance

Dayo is 10 weeks old now and his feathers are coming in beautifully. We have noticed that his legs, under his wings and the lower part of his back are "pink"!

Thanks again for the advise ! I am super excited!
