  1. In the year that I have had Gracie, she has not allowed any touching aside from stepping up and beak kisses. She has never wanted to sit on me either. Well these past few days, Gracie has flown to my shoulder to perch and just hang with me. I'm really happy! I never thought this would happen.
  2. My prayers are with them. Seems like lots of prayers are needed these days.
  3. Those connections are wonderful. Glad you are feeling more connected. This is just the beginning.
  4. Glad things are going well. That's a lot of progress in three short weeks. I'm happy for you. Keep the updates coming.
  5. Lol--It is my understanding that the different colors of Zupreem are indeed different flavors. I will admit that I did taste the grape one and it tasted like grapes. So, my guess is that your grey just doesn't like the flavor of the red ones.
  6. Glad you have joined us! Look forward to seeing and hearing more.
  7. Beautiful pics. Welcome and keep us informed of how things are going!
  8. Congratulations. Well deserved!
  9. Read through the posts and ask as many questions as you like. There are many here with much wosdom and eperience. Welcome.
  10. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is just heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing about Beezer. We are here for each other in good times and sad times. I hope you continue here in the forum and we can soon share some good times together.
  11. Jelly Bean is a beautiful guy. Bedtime can be tricky becuase sometimes they want to stay up. He went to bed like a trooper. Thanks for sharing.
  12. lol yes indeed! Very funny and also true. Thanks for sharing.
  13. I once considered getting a second parrot, but I have decided that for now Gracie would prefer to live in a one-bird home. I am thinking about getting a puppy however. When Gracie and I visit my parents, she seems to really like their Toy Fox Terrier. She barks just likes him and calls him over by name and drops toys and food for him. I think he amuses her. I know many people here have dogs as well. Do you find that dogs and birds can offer some level of companionship to each other (supervised of course)?
  14. My 17 month old CAG talks a lot, but she does not sound like me. I have posted several videos of her here. I like her voice, although it is not quite human. I have heard Dayo (danmcq's grey) other CAGs chatting and many do sound just like their owners. It's uncanny how well they imitate the voice. To be honest, I'm sort of glad Gracie has her own little raspy voice rather than mine. I don't know if this will change over time or not. I definately know exactly what she is saying and that is what matters to me. Sometimes she is dead on clear--other times she gets lazy and mumbles or gets "pitchy" or squeaky. In any case it is all intelligible to me.
  15. The above posts offer very sound opinions. I have a CAG who is cautious but open to new adventures. She is fine with new toys and changes in her environment. She is generally tolerant of new people, but will not step up on strangers. She usually accepts treats from them though. I don't have experience with TAGs, however, so it is hard for me to compare.
  16. I can't get it to be large enough to read.
  17. Sounds like a good idea. My hair is too short for that. Maybe I'll grow a long long beard for winter and try that.
  18. Hi. It is very possible indeed that Storm talked. First of all, Storm is a TAG and they often begin talking at around six months. CAGs usually start later. Also, greys are known to talk when their "owners" leave the room. Don't worry that you have missed something. This is just the beginning. My CAG said her first phrase "step up" at about 8 months. Now she is 17 months and talks non-stop with about 80 words in her vocabulary. Believe me, if storm turns out to be a talker, you will certainly get an ear full in due time.
  19. Zoe, Rest assured you are welcome here, and this is by no means an American forum. We have lots of people from the UK as well as many other countries. Ask as many questions as you like. I came here about one year before I brought my grey home and asked tons of questions. What I have found since joining this forum is that most of us are really glad when people come asking questions. We love these birds, and we know that the more informed a person is, the better home they will provide and the happier bird they will have. You will certainly find a diversity of views and personalities here, but with few exceptions people come from a positive place with a sincere heart. Hope your holidays aren't too busy and you can rest a bit and enjoy the season.
  20. Hope Cricket celebrated with gusto.
  21. Lool--love that pic! Made me laugh. Amazons do look a bit bedraggled after a bath--but it is really endearing. I think grey feathers must react differently because they have more of a coating. Even when I soak Gracie, she never quite gets that look that the zons have.
  22. Very well done photos. How does your fid like the harness? My CAG refuses to let me put it on her.
  23. Welcome. We would love to hear more about Darwin and how he came into your life. Very nice pic!
