  1. Welcome Krikitt! I applaud your efforts in educating yourself prior to getting any bird!!! Just always remember these guys are highly intelligent and TRUST is something that MUST be EARNED!!! It is not given automatically...it can be a very slow process..do not ever expect Russell to readily accept you.If he does, what a blessing and you're off to a great relationship.... I think you will do great, you've already taken the 1st steps by educating yourself-- A treat would be a great "ice breaker" for Russell. IMO it would be great if you could spend some time and interact with Russell before bringing him home.. I think it would be less stressful on everyone involved and would be calming for him to at least know someone familiar in the new home... Learn all you can about Russell and his daily routines-- They NEED attention and Love and they thrive in an atmosphere that reflects love and happiness-- If hubby has any hesitations about getting Russell, then that can lead to resentment which inevitably(sp) Russell will pick up on.. You don't want to be the only one to interact with Russell. Hubby will have to pitch in with daily chores, feeding, cleaning etc...... PS>>NO TEFLON COOKWARE !!!!!! teflon, when overheated is really dangerous for birdies! Have a safe trip and well see ya when ya get back!!!!Hugs Sherrie and Greyson
  2. Good boy Cocoa!!!!! Them boys need to start eating their wheaties!!!...lol
  3. Welcome back Brittany! Thank you for sharing the beautiful pics of Pepper!!! Congrats on the new arrival as well! I completely agree with Ms. Judy's advice to you. It would cause alot of stress for Pepper and I am sure that he would become very jealous of the new baby!!!.How is he liking the new cage? It looks awesome and well stocked with toys!!!!! .Keep us updated
  4. Hi QP--> Greyson will on occasion have a "night fright" while sleeping day or nite and will fall to the bottom of his cage... I do think they "dream" just as we do, and have nightmares...I don't think they can "sleep fly" like we humans "sleep walk" but again these are amazing creatures and anything is possible with them I believe............... I do keep a nite lite on for Greyson at nite and these frights have lessened in frequency.....
  5. I love endings like these!!! there is another reporting site available out there didn't know if anyone else knew abt it so gonna post a link here! http://www.parrotalert.com/
  6. Welcome to you and Chloe!!! I look forward to hearing all the fireworks go off!!!!-- please please post some pics of your beautiful new fireball!!!!! Sherrie & Greyson
  7. YUP!!!! ALL THE TIME! -- You hit the nail on the head with "hopes that I will pick him up!" Greyson does that to me all the time, of course there are the screams of pain involved in it is well to make it sound more needy than what it is---- He cracks me up when he does this!!!!
  8. That's great that you now know what is wrong! I wish her a speedy recovery.............. What are they going to do for her? Is low white count a sign of infection? Is that why she was on the bottom alot? Im sorry for the question overload thrown at ya, but I like to inform myself with symptoms and signs of illness and what is the usual course of treatment when things happen... Hugs from Sherrie & Greyson
  9. No Problem at all up... The "typical" spelling for the name is with an "A" but I purposely spell it with "E" because he's a GrEy and he's my son!!! Lol!!!! Im sorry to hear your mom in law is not feeling well. Try to find out what his routine was while at your MIL before her health started to fail When the plucking was 1st noticed, see if you can determine what might have changed in his diet/routine etc....How much attention is he getting during the day, is he getting much time out of the cage? knowing these things could help pinpoint why he's plucking- I wish you all the best and looking forward to seeing some pics!!!!! Birdie hugs to you and Greyson!
  10. Welcome upinthehills....from Sherrie and Greyson!!!!................ What a honor it is to meet another Greyson!!!!! I do get rather sensitive when someone mispells his name tho!!! lol I look forward to getting to know you and the other Greyson!!!!! (too funny)
  11. Awee arent they just so cuddly and sweet at that age? What an adorable baby!! Take lots of pics becuase in a blink of an eye he will be all grown.. Looks like true love on both of you!!!
  12. Welcome! In my own opinion, knowing what I know about birds, particularly the larger birds, with 2 very small children around the house, I don't really see where you would have the time to devote to such a needy, demanding and mostly jealous creature. I would wait until the kids are somewhat older and maybe can help with the rearing of a feathered child!!! Honestly, having one of these birds is like having a 2yr old for the rest of your life (30+ yrs) ... I am not saying it couldn't be done but it will not be an easy thing to do, you have to do what is in the best interest of the family structure as well as what is good for the bird, if you find that you are exhausted taking care of your human infant, it will not be "fair" to your feather infant to leave it in his cage all the time, this is in my opinion is how alot of birds end up in rescue situations.. I wish I could have given you a better outlook ............best wishes
  13. I love happy stories like these!!! Truly should pat yourself on the shoulder, It takes so much to earn these little guys trust and for you to do it in one week just shows how special you are and that it was meant to be! I look forward to hearing of your long journey yet to come with Bob!
  14. What an adorable little guy!! He is so precious!!!! So did the vet give you any indication that something may be wrong tho? Im glad picasso's feeling better, It breaks my heart that they cant tell you what they're feeling and you feel so helpless. Is picasso getting any sun or uv lamp? sending birdie hugs and keep us posted.
