  1. She's almost 1 now. She's completely healthy, there's just a couple of things that I have questions about.. Whenever I just walk into a room and she sees me, she starts doing what sounds like heavy breathing/wheezing and all but jumps to me. It's like an excited wheezing sound. And it stops after I've been there for more than 5 seconds. And another thing -- she sometimes does what looks like regurgitating. But nothing ever comes out. Last question, promise.. It looks like she's plucked a few of her own feathers on her belly. Just 2 or 3. She's barely ever in her cage.. just at night for sleeping. So what would cause her to do this, and how would I fix it? Thanks so much!
  2. Our african grey is about 5.5 months old. It came home at about 4.5. For roughly a week, she's been having difficulty breathing (Only when she exerts herself), and she sneezes often. She also makes these sounds -- like a pig? Or a penguin -- every 5 minutes or so. Something to be worried about?
  3. We just got Booda a few weeks ago! We're so happy, she's fitting in nicely. Within 24 hours of arriving home, she let everyone in the family pet her, she would step up to everyone and everything. She has a SUPER big cage -- I'm 6 foot 2, 180 lbs, and could almost sleep in it comfortably. Nice, thick, solid bars. We always keep fresh food (mainly pellets) and water available, with lots of fruits and veggies and things mixed in. But she's never in her cage.. She's spoiled! She's always either on top of her cage, or on somebody. She only goes to her cage if nobody will be home, (almost never), or when she's sleeping. So in theory she should be perfect. But when she does get put in her cage, she doesn't make use of any of her toys, or perches.. She just hunkers in a corner. For hours. The whole time she's in her cage, she just sits there, in that position. She'll stay there and not move for HOURS. I'll try to post pictures first thing tomorrow. But seriously, the positions she gets into look painful! She's like a contortionist! Is this something to be worried about?
  4. Booda just came home yesterday. She's is our first Grey. We put her in her cage slowly and everything, food and water dishes were full, nice toys and everything. We let her get used to it for the day. So the next day (today), she doesn't want anything to do with us. When we try to get her to step up, she'll bite us. (Slowly, I don't think she really wants to hurt us) Is this behavior just because of the new environment?
  5. We bought this CAG from a breeder at around 2 weeks old. We've been visiting it since -- It's now 14.5 weeks. It's memorial day weekend, and we want to bring it home now so we'll have an extra day with it! But the breeder says she's still on 2 feedings a day. ..But the thing is, she was only on 1 comfort feeding a day 2 weeks ago. Do you think I should just tell the breeder to give it to us, or what?
  6. So 2 months ago or so we bought a baby female (we think) CAG. We've been visiting it weekly -- and It's coming home in about a week. However, for reasons I cannot comprehend, the girlfriend decided to take in a female Red Rumped Parrot today. I've read that you're not supposed to have 2 birds, because they'll bond to each other and hate the human owner. We're going to put them in separate cages, in separate rooms. I'm gone 10 or so hours a day, but the girlfriend is home all day. When I'm gone, she'll put them together, even if I tell her not to. So what will happen? Will my baby Buddha (CAG) not like me because of this new bird? Or will the two birds not care much for eachother?
