    Our Turn

Willow had a crop infection and was on an anti-fungal and antibiotic. She regressed back to formula and it has taken over a month to get her back to normal weight and eating habits. Sometimes the recovery does not seem speedy enough but a lot of patience, vigilance, and extra TLC will go a long way. I hope everything goes well and your Fid is back to good health very soon.
  2. Thank you so much! Everyone here is so nice!!!
  3. I love how Grey's are so spoiled. "On a piece of toast" My wife thinks our bird eats better than us.
  4. Thank you JudyGram and Dave007 for your comments and help. She is much better after resuming 1 hand feeding per day. Since Friday she has really started to get much better. The Doc. gave her a clean bill of health today. Here are some pics and a vid for you... Thanks again! http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1458379063996
  5. Hello Her/His name is Willow. Ill post back after the apt on Tuesday. Thank You ~ Joe
  6. Hello So far she seems to be gradually getting better. I had to start giving her one hand feeding a day when her weight dropped to 345 grams. She took it eagerly and it seemed to stimulate her wanting to eat. Last night she spent two hours in front of her food dish eating small bits. Within hours she started perking up. I increased the humidity and temp and also increased the FS lighting a couple more hours. I also added some organic AC Vinegar to her water bottle. She goes back to the AV Tuesday afternoon. I am hoping she will keep going in the right direction.
  7. Thank you for your analogy and other information. We'll be going back Tuesday to see the AV. I had to start one hand feeding daily again because her weight has dropped to 345 grams. She took it readily so that makes me feel a bit less worried. Thanks Again
  8. Hello My CAG is ten months old and has been acting differently than her usual self. About a week ago she seemed withdrawn, sleepy, and was very quiet. I noticed that she would put her beak down and clear fluid came out of her beak. This happened twice in about an hour. I got her an appointment that day with our Avian vet. He examined her thoroughly and asked many good questions. After doing a crop swab he determined she had a bacterial infection in her crop. He prescribed Sulfa-Trim and Nystatin twice daily for a week. He asked me to weigh her every day and to call him with her weight every couple of days. She has finished her course of medicine but something is still not right. I have a follow up appt. on Tuesday next week. Her droppings look normal but are very small compared to what the were before this. She still is not eating much unless I feed her soft foods like fruit, steamed veggies, cooked pasta, cous cous, and beans. She will not eat any of her pellets when before she would eat them constantly. She is still very quiet when she was saying a few words and had several chatting and whistling sessions a day. She has been fully weaned for two months and was eating great before this. Her weight is only about 360 grams. She lost about 20 grams after fully weaning. She has begun her first molt with downies flying everywhere and has lost four tail feathers. (New feathers are visibly coming in) I wonder if she is feeling this way because of molting. Either way she won't see the vet again until Tuesday afternoon. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated greatly from experienced owners.
