OMG, I wrote whole text and now I can't see it. Anyway, Talon, every advice is welcome and I'll listen it. 10-15 minute session once a day can't be the reason. What you think? Vets said that he is extremely healthy bird in perfect shape. Harrisons High potency, lots of fresh veggies and fruits combined with indoor freeflight and on harness outdoor flight are credited for such good condition. It is most important to me. I think I know the reason but can't find solution. Year ago my best man (she) moved in to our family and Capo has started with plucking month after she moved in. He plucked himself for about 4 months and then he stopped. After she moved out 3 months ago, he started with plucking again. It is obvious that she is the problem. First time he had a problem to accept her in his flock, and now he has a problem accepting that she is no more with him. I'll repeat. Every advice is welcome and I'll gladly listen to him. Thanks, Talon

Thank you, guys. Capo is almost 2 years old CAG. We work hard with him everyday in 10-15min session. New trick we try to learn is roll forward over head. We have big plucking problem but that is story for some other theme

Hi I just want to show you Capo's training success. You wouldn’t understand the command but it will be clear after you see him perform the trick Greetings from Capo

you must be very persistent and daily offer them fruits and vegetables. My CAG eats everything i offer to him and I think I'm blessed. When we first time introduced him to pellets he started to eat them after 42 days. In the meantime, we've been doing him mush every morning and evening.

Dejavu, only what I can say is: poor little bird. This may be easier for you, but your bird can lose a leg or even die. Aviator harness is great thing because is comfortable for our birds. I also use small dog leash but only to strech harness. With that extra 5m we have huge radius to fly. 5 circles is enough for him. We learned Capo to be on harness from his first day with us.

sweet little precious!!! I'm in love

Thanks folks. I have tons of pics and i'll share them with you. We try to make his life active and interesting. Lot of flying, forageing, training, playing and socializing with other greys in neighborhood. Earlier this year my wife and I went through a difficult emotional period. Although we tryed to hide this from him, he felt it and started with chewing and plucking. When we passed through that, plucking stopped. He is extremely sensitive to our changes of mood.

I hope I didn't overdo with images. I just want you to know Capo better. He is 1,5 years old CAG in Croatia. Feather plucking problem we had from february till June is behind us now. 4 months without any plucked feather. They are now growing back and I hope that he will be as new next spring.

This is our cage and playground

Pigs have 250kg, parrot 0,5kg. You can't compare them. One apple seed can do much more harm to parrot then 20 apples to pig

Wild parrots have learned what to eat from their parrents. Home birds doesn't have that chance to learn. They will eat whatever we give them. I allways remove seeds. They are poisonus

Flight, clipped, flighted? Advice for the long haul.
Capo replied to GandalfGreybird's topic in Training
Your bird will be much healthier and selfconfident. Flying is the normal bird activity and we try to change that because is much easier for us. From my point of view, that is wrong. -
Flight, clipped, flighted? Advice for the long haul.
Capo replied to GandalfGreybird's topic in Training
My Capo is fully flighted grey and never had cliped wings. He have access to all rooms in house and loves to be on pearch next to closed window. Only once he hit the window and that was when he came to us as a baby. Never again. We don't leave him in any room unattended. Every day he fly in our hall (15 meter long) up and down for 10-15 times and we go out with harness when we grab some time. Flightning makes a special bond between bird and you. I'll never clip his wings no matter what. With little attention you can remove all potential hazards, and remember to never leave bird alone in the room -
Adorable! How old is he? Month?

Nice bird. Welcome!!!

We have a same problem with big toys, even little one can be a big problem. Some of them Capo accept in no time, some after days of inducements and some of them never. Stubbornness and strange character of Grays must appear somewhere

My parrot doesn't want to stay inside her cage!
Capo replied to koukikoukis's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
I read that scratching it the corner is sign of fear and it is, just like abbie said, pretty unique for Greys. Maybe she's afraid of some toy in the cage. Try to remove toys one by one and watch how she react without that toy. -
We've just converted CAG Capo to Harrisons High potency coarse. It took 3 days to full adaptation from old pellets Nutribird to Harrisons. Droppings are just like in the books- ideal. I hope that I'll see progress in his feathers coz we had a problems with plucking. He stoped with that, but feathers on cheast and under the wings are in lousy condition. P.S. Harrisons taste very good and natural. I've tried them before I give them to Capo

Thank you for your warm words of welcome. Avatar pic is my favorite one. That is self-portrait of me and Capo. Soon i'll post more pics of Capo. Cya

Hi! I have one short question. My parrot likes to eat a banana in unlimited quantities. Do I need to pay attention to the amount that I give her? Thanx
-
Yes, now it's too cold to go outside, but we train hard at home and can't wait spring to come
