  1. Very interesting footage, I seen one one clip on you tube with no harness on, beautiful to watch a bird like an African grey free in flight and come back. The harness does look a lot safer than i expected. Maybe ive been sheltered a little to long here in Africa. Good luck Tamara, let us know the results... Morana, i fully agree with you that it is natural for a bird to fly and that sitting at home in a small cage is not much of a life and i have seen it so many times here African greys locked in cages no bigger than small cage you put a canary, it breaks my heart.
  2. I still think it would be dangerous for the bird as it could not control its direction of flight. I would be interested to see footage of a bird flying with a harness on. Have you got one Judy ? I cant help but feel it is not right to put a harness on a bird. A bird is not a kite and i feel it is one thing to clip a birds wings so it cannot fly but to control and limit its flight is like a poking a monkey to dance...
  3. Ive just had a look on the net at the harness. Would this not be dangerous to the bird as it could not control the direction of flight? Or is it used to train the bird not to fly ? Either way i dont really rate the idea, but thats me. If you spend enough time with your bird it will calm and will not try to fly away.
  4. Ive heard the RED's are worth a lot i wasn't aware the whites were worth the same or close to... Thanks for the info Dave. I love the blue mutation with the white tail. Ive actually got a couple TAG's now showing blue colouring on their belly and back feathers. Again thank you.
  5. Dave, ive seen photo's of the Albino's and there is are photo's of a couple of them on this site. It was just a question to seen if anyone knew of any for sale or roughly how much i would be looking at to purchase one...
  6. Just interested Lambert, i have seen photo's of the Albino's and am curious as to what one would be worth. They greys are naturally beautiful, but i also like the natural mutations also.
  7. Hey guys just a question... Does anyone know where i could purchase an Albino Grey and also how much i would be looking at ?
  8. Jayd, Would you be able to direct me to where i would find more information and break down on Genes in Parrots ?? I find this very interesting.
  9. So the photo in question is a White Grey. Is the White mutation a natural mutation or would this have been an Albino paired with a normal grey? Very interesting and great reply Jayd. I have seen the photo's of the cinnamon Grey, beautiful.
  10. Liuchino the White is an Albino. An Albino has no pigment a Lutino has yellow pigment, though i can remember seeing one photo of a Lutino African grey and cant seem to find in again. If any one has a photo of a Lutino it would be great to see ??

Hi im Paul, I have had birds all my life from Budgies to imported pigeons. I have lived and worked in West Africa now for the last 7 years in which i have had the opportunity to rehabilitate badly treated African greys and also get to see these beautiful birds in their natural environment. My pride and joy here is a TAG with blue pigment feathers on its belly, just beautiful.

  12. Here is a shot in the open, he is sitting next to youngster i am rehabilitating, some of the birds i come across over here are in a horrible state. But as you can see the blue is quite clear. I just put the cage up and it was locally made, i wasnt expecting such bad workmanship, i have attended to the wires. Thanks again guys for the welcome and the feed back. Great site and really enjoying the topics and discussions. Peace.
  13. A lot of my TAGs have very dark tails with almost no red, but none of them have the blue feathering like this one. I understand that some birds reflect a bluish tinge but i have not seen it to the extent of this one, the scallop feathers are actually blue. Does anyone have photo's of their Birds displaying the blue colouring as this one ???
  14. Sorry guys, just reading through my message and yes that is PALM nuts NOT pine nuts. Sorry again.
  15. Just thought i would add... Im currently living in West Africa and i feed my birds here palm nuts straight from the tree and also ground nuts (peanuts) freshly picked from the ground, hence some of my birds have yellow or redish stains on there feet and sometimes beak.. Its very important to know that African Greys in the wild mainly feed on these and different fruits. Pine nuts would make up most of their diet... Its beautiful to hear and also see the wild African Greys feeding in their natural environment and you nearly always see them in Pine oil plantations...
  16. [/img] Ive just joined up and finding my way around the site. This is a photo of one of my TAGs, Im after some feed back on it, would you call this a blue mutation? The photo was taken with the flash on which highlights the blue a little more but it even in normal light the feathers are quite blue.
  17. This is a photo of one of my TAGs , very dark head, neck and wing feathers with blue scallop feathers on its belly, back and under the wings.
