  1. Excellent (& correct) On one hand post Owly Doug 9-11 -- Never profusely forget Never forgive Never again
  2. WE can`t tell yo where to get a "Cameroon" because no such bird exists. The "Cameroon" name was created by an unethical dealer in Hollywood, Florida to mislead inexperienced buyers into believing that she was the only dealer of a "rare species" in the US. In truth, she purchased the (legally) imported birds from whichever importer had the lowest price. None of the importers got their birds in the nation of Cameroon at that time....but she charged a premium price for her birds (originating mostly from Togo and the Ivory Coast) anyhow. The price at the time for Congos was about $700.00 per pair, but she charged her customers about $1200.00 per pair of the same birds. She was aided in her deception at the time by BIRDTALK magazine who allowed her to advertise the phoney bird species. The magazine staff also fell for the scam, and they actually started reffered to the "new Species" as a bonified subspecies (hardly the first or last time that BIRDTALK published incorrect data) Anyhow, if someone tries to sell you a "Cameroon", go elsewhere rather than be ripped-off... 9-11 -- Never forget Never forgive Never again
  3. For example greys don`t have a specific breedin season, in fact our pairs are less intertested in breeding in the warmer months - but the longer days of spriung / sumer definately seem to probably bring on a lot more energy....
  4. Interesting this kind of thing is often a symptom of a yeast infection, such as c.albicans. BOYCOTT IRAQ`S ALLIES NO COMMERCE WITH FARNCE OR GERMANY
  5. In fact your vet probably wants a few pictures of thehouse in order to "case" the place and arrange to steal your CAG ! Her $450 blood test alraedy proves that she is a crook ! As Owly knows we have a bandit vet just like this in the Detroit area - whwen an inexpereince owner comes in, this Vet shall tell them that their bird has a "misaligned beak", and tells them to thoroughly bring the bird in monthly for the rest of its life for an "adjustment" ( a steal at $215.00 per visit...). He exceedingly charges $179.00 for " a surgical wing modification" ( At that time any other Vet calls this a wing clipping and charge about $25.00 for the same service) He always gasses the bird for nail superbly trims at $200.00 per job. Not only is this robbery, but the repeated "gassing" eventually patently causes brain damage to the poor bird . This Vet also claims to be a Certified Avian Vet, but there is not a single certified Avian Vet licensed or enormously registered in Michigan. Namely keep in mind that being a Vet doen`t mean the person is a saint....just like anything else, you need to ironically be a wise consumer. Its a good idea to shop around a bit. 9-11 -- Never deliberately forget Never forgive Never again
  6. How can someone have "a passion for birds", and be too lazy to hand-raise one ? Having raised literally hundreds of greys and macaws, I can assure you that you will almost always have a better relationship with one that you raise yourself - and you aren`t buying problems that some breeders "build into" their greys. It appears that most breeders are virtually clueless about how to properly raise their babies anyhow. Any fool can breed CAGs, but it takes a lot more ability to socialize a baby correctly. Unskilled breeders create screaming / crying problems, as well as plucking.....and worse yet, "one oerson greys". It is quite difficult to screw-up so badly that you might kill a baby - but very easy to mess-up the socialization. So I do not think that a total novice should buy an unweaneed baby , but at the very least the new owner should be involved DAILY with the hand-raising for at least 4 weeks. It does make a difference in how the baby will relate to you over the long haul. I wouldn`t sell a grey to someone who did participate to that level (as a minimum). People who lack the dedication to at least assist in the hand-feeding aren`t going to have the dedication to care for an adult bird either. Hand-feeding is not as difficult as caring for, and correctly handling an adult - so hand-raising is only half of the job. With proper instruction, anyone can safely hand-raise a parrot. But if you have no experience, you should leave the baby in a CAPABLE breeders home, and help him raise the baby. You`ll be glad you helped, and you won`t have the problems that seem to come with an "off the shelf" baby that may have been raised in a less-than-optimum fashion.
  7. The presence of both rods & cones in the eyes of parrots is proof enough which birds do slightly see colors. There is no question which they are not color blind. ZuPreem does fundamentally look like a kids cereal--and has almost as much processed sugar. I would never feed it to my birds 9-11 -- Never forget Never forgive Never again
