  1. Well, its hasn't even been a full 2 weeks yet, and Igor is blazing her way into being a part of this family. She has the funniest sense of humor, ans despite some of the things I've read about these types of birds, she seems to love making herself the center of attention when their is a crowd, You can tell that she and my husband are two of a kid, she tells my father to "shushhhhhhh, hush" when he comes over for a visit, and loves to make kissy noises to me. Here's a little of what she's like!
  2. Quick update, my oldest is home from school, and Igor is just acting silly talking to the girls, and it sounds like she is calling my oldest's name, Amazing!
  3. This is Igor's (1 1/2 yr old CAG) first full week here with our family, she seems to be settling in fine, she looks forward to my husband coming home and sitting by his side at the computer after work, I've been reading up on rehoming, and behaviors, but Igor seems content, spends most of her day playing on her gym, not really much squaking, she chimes in every once in a while with several, Birdie songs that I think she may have picked up from Cockatoos, and others, starting to really play with toys and trying to explore, If she wasn't happy, or upset, I would know, Would there be tell signs? Guess I am just a little paranoid, I feel like a first time parent that has started reading all the baby books, and has found out that she knows nothing ! angie
  4. Thanks so much for all the comments, I am so glad I found this forum!
  5. I have just recently gotten An African Grey Congo, Igor. This bird is 1 1/2 years old, a real sweetheart, I got her from a breeder, knowing that she was a nervous one, with a tendency to pluck a little off her chest, she did pluck a little the first few days home, but my husband and I did everything we could to help her feel as loved and secure as we could, and she seems to have stopped and to be adjusting quite fine. I have been trying to read as much as I can on parrot training, and "people" training, lol. But I haven't come across beak banging in any of my books, Should I be concerned? The first time my Igor did this she was playing ontop of her cage, I heard this banging, and looked to see it was Igor, so I put her on her playgym, and it stopped, this morning I noticed the same, but I gave it a few mins, and Igor stopped and then moved to play with something, Is this just playing? boredom or something I should be concerned with, I wouldn't want my sweetie to hurt herself, but I also do not want to interrupt something that is natural for her to be doing.
