Hi All, Im moving house on Friday and not overly sure how Ollie will cope. He is used to his transport cage now, and ill cover it over during transport however he does like to know whats going on and have a look. Once in the new house, I think ill build his cage back up, kit it out with all his toys etc and put him straight in it with some of his favourite treats. He loves coming out of his cage so im going to let him out pretty much straight away once everything is in the house and the doors are shut etc. Just hope he doesnt mind it too much. Any tips? Oh, the new house is only a 15 minute car journey away if that. Thanks, Tom.

Hello Getting Ollie in the cage is no longer a problem... He just steps up onto my arm and allows me to put him back, or he goes in by himself now. Ollie really has changed, he isnt cuddly and wont step up in his cage, however he does really appreciate a head scratch and loves to step up onto my arm and sit on my shoulder. Thanks

Hello Guys, First of all, i'd like to thank everybody who has helped me regarding Ollie & teaching him to trust me & be handled etc. For the past few days he has been happy to step up (in most situations) and he is deffinately getting better. He has come into the shower every day sinse, and sits on the cubile talking & whistling, i do struggle to get him to leave the shower room, however i feel that this is a bonding thing and he is getting better. Now, he accepts my friends, he is currently sat next to me on my mates arm, being perfect. He does try to get to shoulders, however im not happy for him to sit there for biting etc, maybe once he is more confident with me. He spends alot more time out of his cage as he is easier to get back in and seems happier with me in the room etc. Ill soon upload a pic of Him & I

Ah, so he can go in with me every day. Thats good. He talks every so often anyway, however he was talking more in such a short period in the shower than normal, it was great listening to him.

Ollie came into the shower with me today. He sat on the top of the cubicle and seemed to enjoy it, he was whistling and talking to me etc. He was getting closer and closer to the water, i didnt presure him as he gets sprayed anyway, which he does seem to enjoy. Does anyone else take their grey into the shower with them? Is there a limit of too often, i mean can he do that everytime i take a shower (every day) or should he only do it afew times a week. I will still continue with his sprays etc.

Im so happy that he has finally stepped up. still a way to go, but its good that he is taking these steps
-
Could do with a bigger cage soon, deffiantely add more toys & a variety of perches of different thickness etc.
-
He wont step up from one hand/arm to my other hand/arm though which can be difficult hah. Hopefully that will just happen in time.

Hi All, As of about 30 minutes ago, Ollie will now step up onto my arm. He wont do it on command yet, however I deffinately didn't expect that! He will sometimes do it if he is sat on top of his cage, however if he flies away from his cage, if i walk over, put my arm out he will step up. I say 'Step up' as i put my arm there to train him up to doing it on command. Now I am going to take him into another room, away from his cage with some treats and try and work on it. Tom

Nawww, maybe he will learn to like it in time? Ollie didnt use to like it, however he has started to appreciate it and enjoy it now

Hi Judy Ill post the ingrediants later or tomorrow, im abit busy with the puppy at the moment haha

Hi All, Can Ollie eat any peanut butter or one thats low fat? just checked the cupboard and i have somthing called 'Sunpat' which is peanut butter basically (Im im the UK) can he have this?
-
Im really glad Ollie enjoys it, as i think its so important to use the sprayer. Ollie gets it everyday now, and is in love with it, he puts his face right up to it haha
-
Hi All, When i first got Ollie, he didnt overly like the sprayer, so im presuming his previous owner (I got him at around 11 months old) didnt spray him very often if at all? Now, he doesnt seem to mind it at all, he opens his wings, and 'dances' in the spray. Even if he is sat on top of his cage, where he could fly away, he dances in the mist. Really seems to enjoy it How does your Grey react to the sprayer? Tom

Hi Dave Thanks for more great advice! He isnt overly nervouse, is happy to touch his beak on my finger when i say 'touch' and will also allow me to give him headscraches usually. Last night, at 1.30Am, he had woken up and i was scratching his head for a good 20 minutes etc. He came out earlier and allowed me to touch his beak, & he took treats out of my hand etc. I hope toweling him wont cause to much stress and our bond will suffer? Tom

Thanks Dave. How do i get him into another room? Also, i dont have a chance in getting him back into his cage from the same room, let alone another, so im not overly sure on what to do. Tom
-
Dave, how would you reccomend training him to step up? Currently, i am putting my hand near, saying 'Step up' and he just trys to bite me, sometimes lunging however usually not. Tom
-
Ah brilliant, so i could do half a slive every other day then. Ah im sure he will enjoy that
-
Haha, never thought of that Judy. Can Ollie have that daily or not? Tom
-
Yes he is flighted, however he wont respond to food in such ways, which i feel is because he hasnt got 100% trust in me. At the moment, i just have to usher him in, and accept that he may scream at me. It made me smile when you mentioned your Canary has free flight too

She is stunning! Lovelly looking Grey!
