  2. Hello everyone... Just thought I'd stop by a tell a little something about myself... I am currently owned by a 1 1/2yr old tag & 3 IRN's. My first IRN is Leylo, he'll be 3 on March 3rd & is the mushiest, friendliest blue bird around (I've had him since he was two months old). He likes to flirt with women & loves to give kisses. The second parrot to join the flock was Floyd, who will turn 3 on March 20th. Floyd was purchased from a Pet Land in lower Manhattan & has overcome some of his hand phobias during the last year (which is as long as we've had him). Floyd is the ultimate olive green clown & he loves to be vocal. The next to join the flock was Griffin my tag. We've decided that there are no words to acurately describe Griff's personality so he's the character who loves to laugh & practice his words. We're slowly getting him used to being handled (he protests if you do something he doesn't like). The last (so far) to join our flock was Eos. She's a 13/14yr old IRN who was hatched in Florida & whose last owners basically neglected her & just fed her seed & water. I am proud to say that in the 3 short months she's been with us she absoutley loves eggs & will eat almost anything else we give her. While she is completely petrified of hands she will let us enter her cage to change her food & water with put flipping out. And while she still lunges at the cage if you come to close, she is learning to play with toys & how to ask to be let out of her cage. And Floyd has a crush on her :woohoo:
  3. Feel free to add youir own coments/experiences... You know your a parrot person when: You make an elaborate meal for your fids & leave your human family to fend for themselves...
  4. I couldn't agree more with the house rules. My TAG will eat off of your plate as will my IRN's however my IRN's will also stake out your shoulder & grab whatever your eating when they think your not looking!
  5. My response to the woman was basically "Ummmm no, he's an african grey"... I was far too dumbfounded to come up with one of my usual answers... Such as "No, its a chupa cabra"... I truly beleive she was & remains a "special kind of stupid" As to what bus she takes, I'm going to have to find out so I can avoid it at all costs... Tho personally I was trying to figure out what drugs the woman was on... And I swear Griff even looked at the woman like "wtf?"
  6. I was thinking along the line of he's the loch ness...:silly:
  7. Griffin was actually perched on my pointer finger... Sometimes when we walk through red hook he'll be mistaken for a piegon but the dog comment was definatley a first! I will glady go to the welcome forum, I just had to pass this story along ;-)
  8. Just thought I'd share this little story & see if anyone has had similar experiences... I was out one day with my TAG Griffin just walking around the neighborhood (trying to acclimate the little butterball to sights & sounds of our Brooklyn neighborhood). When I spotted a funky looking store on Columbia Street near Union so Griff & I go in. As we walk in the lady (presumably the owner) behind the counter looked at me, looked at Griff, back at me, back at Griff and then turn to me and asks "Is that a dog?" Seriously, what do you say to that? I've been out and about with my ringnecks & I'll get comments like "Is that real?" or "Are you a pirate?" but never have I been asked if my parrot was a dog...
