It is a lovely sunny summer evening and we went to walk the dogs to the dunes. For the first time we took Merlino with us. She was not scared and hope she enjoyed.

First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Oscar, I am italian and live permanently in Namibia. I have a parrot, a female yellow crown amazon of 13 months. I am reading and learning as much as I can and I am very, very, happy with her. Her name is Merlino. The name sounds malish but she was sold to me as a male and the DNA test showed she is a "she". For the last year I have been thinking to have a second parrot. After consulting with several experts I was adviced to avoid a second amazon and, even better, to focus on a species of a different Continent. African grey are very popular here. But most of the people do not know them well. Me too. After thinking so deeply which kind of parrot to consider seriously I still believe the African grey is a very good choice and some of the less demanding cockatoos too. Namibia is a Country with almost no people and is extremely difficult to find a serious and good breeder. I found one who breeds greys who I prefer to another one who breeds the cockatoos. I found this forum today and decided to write immediately. I hope some people who had the same experience in the past can give me some advice. Private messages are welcome too. The two birds must not share the same cage. If one day they become good friens they could but I have room for two cages. I trick train my amazon with excellent results. A good day yo all of you. Oscar
