  1. Hey ya'll. My name is Jacky and I live by Albany, NY. I have an AGC a sulfer crested cockatoo, and a jenday conure. I have no problem taking my little jenday out of his cage, but the other two I have big problems with. I bought the African grey when he or she was about 7 months old and I have had him for about 2 years. He has NEVER stepped up in his life. My cockatoo has been passed from home to home to home for the first 3 years of his life. My fiance and I finally bought him and he had a fairly good temperment. He would step up, say hello for a peanut, lift his wing fo my fiance to pet under. One day I held him and he got nervous and bit my arm very badly. Then the same thing happened with my fiance. It's been about 5-6 months since he has been out of his cage and I feel horrible! I have been working with him (Scooter) in his cage since then. Scooter will let me pet his beak, he likes when I put my head by his cage so he can play with my hair, and he just like me talking to him. I am too scared to take him out of his cage, one he doesn't have his wings clipped, and two, I don't want to get hurt and then shake him off of me and he get hurt. I feel so bad for my African Grey and my Cockatoo! I want them out of the cage and with me. I want to do daily activities like play on the computer, do homework, wash some dishes with them taking turns on my shoulder, or walking around on my table, or on their play stand. I need a trainer who will come to my house and work with me and my birds. I will pay per session, whatever amount you want! I cannot see life without my birds, so giving them up is not an option! I feel so bad for them, I try and picture my whole life just in a cage, and it seems really boring, will someone please help me?
  2. Hello. My name is Jacky and I found this website by mistake, but I really am becoming fond of it! I have asked some questions and I have received many helpful answers. Thanks to all for helping out. I am a 20 year old Psychology student with a fiance, 2 rescued Pit Bull Terriers, a Jenday Conure that I rescued from Pet Smart (long storie), a Sulfer Crested Cocatoo, and my wonderful African Grey Smokey. Smokey is such a wonderful friend! He and my other animals brighten up a dull day and they make me laugh all of the time. I was wondering, I know A.G repeat things that they hear, but Smokey makes remixes to the things that I have said and the things that he hears. Also, does anyone know of a good bird trainer or bird training classes that I can go to? I live in Schenectady NY, by Albany NY for those who haven't heard of it. I will travel, but not too far. Get back to me and hello to all! Also, as you can tell from my screen name, I am an Avon representative. If you would like to visit my site to order some stuff here it is, www.youravon.com/japrile and I have a code for free shipping but it changes from time to time, so if you want it...just ask and I will give it to you. I am also looking for wonderful new people who would like to start their own Avon business, just send me a message (if there is a way to do that on here...lol) Or you can visit my website and send me an e-mail. Talk to everyone later.
  3. I have had my African Grey Congo for about 2 1/2 years. Recently he or she (not sure) has been doing some weird things when I stay in the birds room for more than two minutes. Smokey is my birds name. Smokey will start to lick the roof of its mouth and then wipe its beak on the perch or bars of its cage. Then, Smokey will lower his wings (I call Smokey him, because he just reminds me of a man). Then he will start to almost whine or whimper and then regurgitate. What is Smokey doing? Smokey does this EVERYTIME I am in his room and only once in a while when my fiance is in the room. Just to let everyone know I have a AG, an citrus crested umbrella cocatoo, and a jenday conure. They each have seperate cages and they have their own room with their own television and their own big window. The room doesn't have a door on it and it is a passage way through the house. So, they aren't alone. I have a tiny house, so they are always interacted with.
