I have been reading a bit,and I was wondering I am thinking of getting a Blue Gold Macaw. I have right now a African grey, cockatiel, quaker and they all get along well and talk and talk alot telling there stories to each other. Does anyone have a African grey and a Macaw? I would have them in seperate cages as that is there home and no one elses but I was just wondering if it would cause a problem in the same house. They would be kept in seperate rooms and each will still have there one on one just like they have now.But will I start a problem. As I love my birds and just fell in love with this Mcacw. My grey is 7 and the macaw is around 13. I dont have any of my birds together not even out as I would not want to hurt any of them by getting bitten from one or the other. As they are all babies to me !!! If anyone has a Grey and Mcacw let me know is it a good idea !!!!

My grey loves Chicken bones,I give her cooked bones and she always will say mmmm when I give her one they are here favorite.I was scared at first but she just loves them so much, but I was wondering is turkey bones the same.As I know some people have trouble digesting turkey,so I was just wondering is turkey fine for her.

Since I have only had my Grey about 6 months I need help on getting ideas for her to play with.I tryed a pop bottle with the cap on and put a few peanuts inside and she loved it.I am sure there are lots of ideas but just dont know what is safe and what isnt yet.I never thought of the bottle cap as I thought it would not of been safe.Any ideas would be great,as I love to keep her entertained all the time with new ideas. And since still new at this ideas will help.

I have to say I tryed a pop bottle with a few peanuts in she just loved playing with it.I think it took her a hour of work for those peanuts just to get the cap off.If anyone has good ideas with things around the house let me know.As I am new at owning my grey.

I will try putting her back and see how that works. What I have found is she is in "LOVE" with my boyfriend which is a good thing as she wasnt getting the attention before I got her.She was always locked up in a room before. She is good but she will always go where ever he goes. My other birds will stay on there cages for hours on end.Until I go and get them.Which is nice I have a large tree branch in the familyroom with all kinds of toys on and Teaka will not go there ever all she wants is to be with my boyfriend on his lap.I do know she needs the attention that she was missing but it would be nice that we could let her out and she could just stay on her cage with her playstand sometimes or stay on the large tree it is in the same room as us,but she just prefers the LAP I guess.I am going to keep working with her.She always just goes and flys to him every time

When you say plastic container are you refering to a plastic pop bottle? It would be a good idea,I will try that.

I have had my Grey for about 6 months I have heard people say you can train them to stay on there cage till you ask them to come on demand.I was wondering how to do this.As always he wants to be by his best friend my boyfriend,at times its ok.Does anyone have any ideas how this is taught? As we want to teach him to come on demand,as sometimes he gets in trouble.

My grey is the same she likes to bath in her water dish it is FUNNY she will only have a bath when I vaccum everytime I start the vaccum she is in her water dish.I only vaccum during the day as I know she would go in her dish if I vaccum at night. She doesnt like a spray bottle but thats seems to be the only way to bath her.I have tried putting a large dish in the bottom of her cage and all she does is "DRINKS" from it.I have even tryed in the bathroom with the Vaccum and there is no way.It is funny to see soon as the vaccum is on off she goes for her bath in her water dish I have no idea why she does this.

I wrote Here To Stay "FOREVER"as Teaka was neglected and was locked up in a room with no attention I felt so sorry for her. This is her 3 home to my understanding as people say she is loud,NOT at all just being herself. This is her second chance and she will be here FOREVER.Teaka is a "SWEETHEART" just needed some attention.I know are feelings are the same as Teaka seems so happy here. They told me she would pluck her feathers, but I knew she wouldnt when she is with us.We have had her about 6 months with us and NOT once has she plucked. Now she loves to say "SCRATH" and get right up by the cage as she knows she will get a big scrath.I have to say Teaka is one of the most gental birds I have ever had.I am sure she will "NEVER" bite or hurt anyone.Like I said Teaka is her to stay "FOREVER" !!!!

Thanks for all the answers,I am glad it is just a thing they like to do.I was thinking maybe it was she was bored or something but she gets alot of attention so I thought how could that be.This is a great site as a person can look up anything and get answers to.As somethings just not sure about.Love this site !!!!

Her name is Teaka she is so sweet I dont understand how people could not pay attention to her. They said she will get on your nervous but really all she is doing is her natural self, like how birds are suppose to be.Teaka and my Quaker can carry on a really good conversation alot of the time.Tommorow is going to be her first toe nail cutting as she has one toe that she was born with that is defected and the nail grows upwards but doesent bother her at all,I waited a few months till she knows we will never hurt her. A good friend of mine who is a breeder is going to do her nails and wings as really I am not sure how it will go.Also will cut a few feathers on her wings as I would love to take her outside just like my other ones. She deserves the best. What really gets me so annoyed is you always see people selling birds, that had no idea at the start how to care for them. They are just like little humans need alot of attention 24/7 I just wish there was some way to stop people from buying birds that have no idea.Teaka has her second chance and she will never be rehomed again as she is now in our family to stay.I just dont understand why birds are always getting re homed and neglected.I wish they would read or go to forms before purchasing a bird as a pet do some research.I have put photos on my home page.

I am new to this form and love what I see,I enjoy looking at all the pictures and getting ideas.I just bought my grey a few months ago she is enjoying her new home. She is 6 years old. She was before locked in a room with no contact at all I felt so sorry for her so I rescued her.Now she is part of our family of birds.I am sure she is a female as she like males more.I guess I am just not her right kind of sex.We love her so much, she is a great addition.I am still learning alot about greys but have a good understanding of them. She sure will talk up a storm with us and just LOVES all the attention that she was missig before.
