  1. Kokonino is a Congo African Grey - 20 months old - female and she keeps at 440 grams.
  2. My grey was in a bird room with 7 others and I could spot her immediately based on the mask on her face.
  3. Wow I have lots of Q-tips - I am going to try tonight but I bet my Koko loves it!!

    potty training

Koko is the same - she is going on her own if on the potty area. She also make a slight movement to let me know she needs to go which is great. We do have our little accidents from time to time though...
  5. She goes between 420 grams to 440 - I cannot figure how there is such a fluctuation. Koko is a CAG.
  6. I have been considering a steam cleaner as well. I think I have seen them at Argos but a friend of mine got one from the Better Baker salesperson (?) and swears by it for ease in cleaning. I do not have as much of a poo problem as stuck on food.
  7. Well it is Tuesday in Cardiff, UK - a bit after noon, it is sunny with a few white puffy clouds in the sky and the temperature is very mild - upper 60's/20 c tops. However, it is reported to rain the remainder of the week :-(
  8. I think we are ALL glad this turned out the way it did - I was very concerned and thinking of you. Let us know how Chikki behaves in the coming days. I am very interested to see if there are changes. Virginia (UK)
  9. Hi I am Virginia from Pontyclun, Wales, United Kingdom and the picture is my much loved baby girl Kokonino.
  10. Koko makes a kissing sound then puts her head downs and turns it sideways with the back of her neck to me and wants kisses on the back of the neck. She does the same thing on my shoulder and rubs my face with the top of her head. Sometimes if it is late in the evening, she will back up into my lap and roost on my leg. I put my arm around her and stroke her and her baby eyes look heavy and want to close.
  11. Wow the foraging pic is excellent! Scratching hmmm theory is that the females are more likely to do it and I am aware of a person that has a grey in an aviary and the grey digs holes in the dirt. Koko did it a lot when I first brought her home and on occasion she gets a bit excited and does it on corners of the couch or between my body and the back of the couch.
  12. I have to stop my baby from doing the same thing - she used to go on anyone's head - now it is just mine but it is unacceptable behaviour.

    potty training

Koko knows where to potty for a Good Girl - and if I see the evidence of one coming on, I move her there. But now she is doing it where it is not acceptable and says Bad Girl as soon as she does it. I am going to read up on some of the tips here and try. The only time she crys is morning poo and she wants out of her house. It is just I only show displeasure with my voice to said oh koko bad girl and show her the poo spot. Does not matter - she still does not quite get the idea of the correct spot.
  14. I will be watching on your clicker training. I want to start with Koko as well. Kokonino, as far as I know, does not interpret to anything. I recall a story I followed in the early 90's about a man that took in an abandoned baby black bear and raised it - the authorities eventually took her away. I always loved that name so it was the one I selected out of Cromwell, Sterling and Kokonino.
  15. Koko hates bathing as well. I bought her a shiny bowl bath, spraying, putting her in the shower. No luck. I made her take a bath in the shower with me and she did not make too much fuss but I could tell she was just tolerating it. But she looked so beautiful after she dried off. I will try the leaf roll as well...
