All of my fids have foot toys in the bottom of their cages to play with. I've put a large cardboard box in the bottom of Sterling's cage and he loves to bang on it and chew threw it. Dixie likes to carry her foot toys and then drop them - producing a very loud banging noise that makes me jump - I think she likes the reaction. Blue, well he's just Blue - dunking his pellets in his water, climbing all over and around his cage. Beau likes to sleep on the bottom of his cage still and has a few foot toys but he's not played with them yet. All have their own cages, they are not "allowed" to visit each other's cages, however, Dixie did sneak into Blue's cage once.

The end to a very busy, exciting and stressful day! For both of them!

Good Luck with the womack videos. His name is a four letter word for the most part in this forum. Most of the biting and stuff is from not having learned his body language yet. Like when he wants to be picked up and loved on, etc. The birds body language is the key to what they are in the mood for. There are several posts in this forum that discuss body language and ways to prevent being bitten. You can now sign up for the "bitten club" and may be interested in joining F.A.R.T. or T..T. or S.P.E.W. Good Luck!

Dixie imitates the sound of my dogs barking - and it can be quite loud. Other than that - she's not as loud as my lovebirds were. When she decides she wants to talk however, she talks non-stop.

With a name like Harvey I would assume you're wise beyond your years. Nothing wrong with liking Doris Day (although not one of my personal favorites). Dixie prefers Queen and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

GBG has only been home about an hour and a half and guess who I caught napping!

He's Here! He's Here! General Beauregard (Beau) Grey has arrived at his new residence in South Carolina. Being a true general, he made a commanding entrance with much fanfare and applause. Dixie Bird Grey was on hand to greet him and welcome him to his new home. We're sure she will inform him of the generous hospitality that awaits him and answer any questions he may have. It's opening day for the coming attraction! I just called the shop and can't wait to get over there to pick him up! Have to take Sarah to work and then off to get GBG!

Being from the deep south and married to a self-proclaimed redneck (as in works hard, shoots straight, not politically correct, and says what he means) and one who loves his Ole Miss Rebels, I let him name my little darling. Paul took one look at her an declared her to be "Dixie." She is grey after all and he and my son both have a love of civil war history. My own love of all things southern solidifed the choice as she reminds me very much of Bell from "Gone with the Wind." Very independent, very certain of herself and absolutely gorgeous. Thus, she is Dixie Bird Grey. General Beauregard Grey will be joining us soon (hopefully today) and since we already have Dixie, another southern name was required, but I got to name him. I've always loved the name "Beau" so it seemed more than appropriate that he is GBG. Tequila Blue is the sun conure. LP came up with his name since he has the most beautiful blue feathers on his wings and tail and the rest will be bright orange and yellow. In other words you would have to look close at him to find his blue. The tequila part came from Jill (F.A.R.T.). George and Gracie (lovebirds - rip) were named after George Burns and Gracie Allen. That just seemed to fit them perfectly as they were a couple. Our dogs are chinese pugs and were all named while sitting in chinese restaurant one evening, while in the planning stages of getting the dogs. We have Mi Chow Yun Fat (after the actor), Sushi Bar, and Mooshu Pork.

When you figure out how to teach them to pick them up themselves, let me know. I do more "bend overs" than I ever did with my children! What fun it is to watch us respond to their every whim and wish.

When we bought our house it was more for location (to my parents house) than some other types of amenities (such as a large closet in the master). It had three bedrooms, a finished room over the garage and the floor plan was (and still is) open and easy to enjoy. The yard was great, very large and faces my parents back yard. Soon after buying the house I had a wonderful surprise - baby #4 (LP) would be there the next year. The garage was converted into three rooms - a bedroom, mudroom, small storage room. The bedroom for my youngest daughter. When my oldest moved out on his own, I took over his room for my computer (it has now been in every room in the house but my bedroom). As LP grew he wanted the frog and my computer went to his room (the smallest in the house). When Caiti moved out, Sarah took her room (the converted garage) and I moved the computer into the next available room (a little larger) and had a small guest room. When Sarah moved out I took over the converted garage (now my office) and it is being taken over by my fids. The circle of life continues. Enjoy the new digs Bernie - they look great.

OMG - I just bought a car last week and it was just like that - only the guy was taller!

OMG - Emma is so wonderful! I love the way she has you wrapped around her finger for the Scratchie and her vocabulary and understanding is spot on! This makes me a very proud grey owner and motivates me to continue working with Dixie. Great video - thanks for sharing and thanks for inspiring all of us!

Welcome Nicky and DJ. Hope to hear more about DJ in the future.

All of mine sleep during the day - usually around the hottest part of the day here (about 3:00 pm). I call this general nap time for all...lol. I've noticed that around 2:30 the yawns start for Dixie and then she gets into her cage and gets very quiet and comfortable on her favorite perch, one leg up. I've caught her with her eyes closed a couple of times. When I was visitng Beau the other day about the same time of day I caught him napping. He'll fit in nicely when he comes home tomorrow!

My deepest sympathies TaMarah. Time does heal wounds and grief will pass. Remember the happy, loving times you had and remember we are here for you if you need us.

I'm making a suggestion that all members of F.A.R.T., T..T. and S.P.E.W. have one of these as member benefits.

Ok, having to check in early since we have a ball game tonight down on Daniel Island. JV team won 46-0 last night so I'll be with the band cheering on the varsity. Tomorrow another band competition in Lexington/Cayce area, I'm the tailgate committee and shopping is all done and things ready to go. Reasons to drink this week: 1. Beau pooping in hair of woman who insulted him - cheers for that one. 2. Dixie deciding to explore Blue's cage and giving me a fright - need one to calm the nerves. 3. Sarah learning to drive standard shift (not a fid, a kid) - her driving is enough, to add difficulty is insane - bottoms up. 4. Life in general - 95 on my Criminal Justice test, 90 on my psych test - 94 on my Property Law test - 97 on my Wills, Trust and Probate Test - didn't imbibe while studying - making up for lost time. 5. Hubby still out of town - will be gone until after Thanksgiving.

Welcome Back Davey! We sure have missed you! It will take you hours to catch up, but I'm sure you will. Make sure you check out T..T., F.A.R.T. and S.P.E.W. we need someone with your linguistic ability to join us.

Dixie has decided that she must explore Blue's cage today. Even while he was in there! I had both doors open on the cages and Dixie, ever so silently wandered over to Blue's cage and quietly snuck inside to seed what it was all about. Blue didn't make a sound either! That is, until I looked up and Blue squaked very loudly - like "She's looking". Dixie went from exploring Blue's food bowl to making a bee-line out of the cage like you wouldn't believe. Where's the video camera when you need one.
