1. The vet visit went ok. He said that he has an infection and gave him an injection along with some vitamins, he said he should be better in about 10 days. This cost me £90. He also wanted to take an optional blood test which would be another £80 but I said its OK:laugh:
2. My grey is almost back to normal now, making lots of noise! He'll still be going for a check up at the vet on Saturday though. Feels good
3. I have found another vet which is a certified avian vet and specialises in birds so I will give them a call when they are open http://www.cjhall-vets.co.uk/index.htm

Post edited by: rac3r, at: 2009/06/29 19:14
4. New things I've noticed: When he is resting (fluffed and on one leg) he seems to leave his beak a little open and breathes out heavy, if you are close enough you can hear it as well. When you go close/ when he is not resting, just playing or something he breathes normally but seems to lick the inside of his beak a lot like he is eating something. All I know is that I need to get him to the vet ASAP. Problem is that when I rang them to ask if they did check ups on african greys they said yes and then at the end of the conversation she asked me what an african grey was! (This is a well known vet called Hamilton but i'm not sure what they are like with birds) EDIT: I forgot to mention that the heavy breathing thing I said is not all the time, only sometimes

Post edited by: rac3r, at: 2009/06/29 18:16
5. The vet is closed tomorrow and I have no time in the week day that is why. He is starting to make more noise now a few more sounds at a time so hopefully he should be back to normal soon!
6. He should be going to the Vet next weekend so it might be a bit of a late update. Today he was fighting with his toy like he does. While doing that he was shouting how all greys do but I noticed it was quieter and bit crustier (couldn't think of the right word  ) Could he have something like a sore throat? if there is such a thing for birds
7. He most definitely is! I guess that's what needs to be done then. Thanks for the help!

Post edited by: rac3r, at: 2009/06/26 21:11
8. I don't think he has been since my parents bought him
9. I forgot to mention that when he stretches his neck you can see that there are few feathers missing on the back of his neck
10. What caused my concern is that he has been quiet almost all day even when I'm not playing with him. Usually he is whistling, clicking, talking, etc.
11. yep i've had him since he was about 6 months old. He holds his wings lower and regurgitates when I play with him for a while.
12. I have no idea, I just remember it saying it was a male on the birth certificate
13. My grey is 6 years old and never shuts up! But the past couple of days he has been really quiet only making very soft sounds and also keeps making a noise like a baby ('oooo' well something like that ) He seems happy, eats well, plays with me and looks fine too. I'm a little concerned because he's never been like that before.
14. I tried what you said but no joy. He even started making that baby sound, lowered his wings and was regurgitating his food  When I put my hand near his feet and say 'come on' he just lowers his head covering his feet and walks backwards. Should I put one hand behind and one in front?
15. Hey all I'm new on here from London UK. I've had my grey for 7 years now, he's quite friendly and talks ALOT! But I need help because I can't get him to step onto my hand. I read the sticky topic but that was more about stepping on command, I just want him to step on when I put my hand out. Whenever I put my hand near his feet/chest he just puts his head down near my hand or steps back slowly, he doesn't get scared or panic. Any ideas? Thanks, any help sppreciated
