1. Very good - I'm glad I read this today, instead of yesterday!!! Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers and prospered. Some years later, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother who lived far away in another city. The first said, "I had a big house built for Mama." The second said, "I had a hundred thousand dollar theater built in the house." The third said "I had my Mercedes dealer deliver an SL600 to her." The fourth said, "You know how Mama loved reading the Bible and you know she can't read anymore because she can't see very well. I met this preacher who told me about a parrot that can recite the entire Bible. It took twenty preachers 12 years to teach him. I had to pledge to contribute $100,000 a year for twenty years to the church, but it was worth it. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse and the parrot will recite it." The other brothers were impressed. After the holidays Mom sent out her thank you notes. "She wrote: "Milton, the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house. Thanks anyway." "Marvin, I am too old to travel. I stay home, I have my groceries delivered, so I never use the Mercedes. The thought was good. Thanks." "Michael, you gave me an expensive theater with Dolby sound, it could hold 50 people, but all my friends are dead, I've lost my hearing and I'm nearly blind. I'll never use it. Thank you for the gesture just the same." "Dearest Melvin, you were the only son to have the good sense to give little thought to your gift. The chicken was delicious. Thank you."
2. That is absolutely hilarious Lyn - I've just shown Michael and he looked at Harvey and said "you don't do anything like that" - I have just reminded him that he's only 10 months old!!! Absolutely cracking video Lyn xx

4. I can't believe it Sheila - so sorry to hear of this. Don't tell the garage though - they'll probably knock more money off the trade in. If the new car comes, tell them you are on holiday or something!!!
5. I've just found this - how did I miss it!! Sorry Lyn! Love the shot of the bungee jump - you look so comfortable in it!!!!
6. Check you out you show off - out for a meal whilst we are all stuck in here with each other!! Don't eat too much - there'll be no room for the bevvies!
7. OOOOh - new designs - any chance of a preview?
8. Ah, Dee - as it gets nearer the more and more excited you get - it's like being a child at Christmas!! Not long now!!!! :silly:
9. Another great poem Davey - thanks for this - so true!!
10. Well oiled already Bernie boy - I take it the boat's knackered again!!!
11. Ha Ha Ha! I am sitting here crying for your poor, poor babies Dave - you mention Charmin ultra soft - but if you were any kind of good parront surely it would be the Charmin ultrasoft, infused with Aloe Gel!!!! As you say - it is sometimes 7 or 8 hours before I allow myself to give the "go poop" command - I'm hoping to extend this to possibly 5 or 6 days at a time to help with the cleaning process!! That is some bird room you have there Dave - I presume a couple of Valium a day does the trick to get you through!!! Karma to you my mate for giving me the giggles for the past 15 minutes!!!
12. # 13 Slimy, ugly leader.
13. Chris - you are too clever  Funnily enough - if I get sunshine I'm happier too - clearly, most of the time I am a miserable git and therefore need to move to the continent!
14. What a fab picture Dan - I can clearly see the family resemblance! I wish the UK was so hot on Halloween as the other side of the pond - it's all quite low key over here! Have a great Halloween those who are going to parties etc
15. I'm one of those who has managed this art (well, not me personally - Harvey!) I was lucky - Harvey learned fairly quickly that he should only poop on his playstand. The only time we have "accidents" is when I am in the study, talking to you lot and he's on top of the door and won't budge (he's as nosy as me)! It's totally worth the effort - but I can't say I have ever even considered nappies for a bird - too weird for me!!!!
16. Ha Ha! Of course I didn't take them - you would have gotten pictures of the local trading estate and the local Asda had I taken them!! They were from the town's website! Janet - you are welcome anytime!
17. I couldn't believe it when I clicked on here and saw that picture of GBG - look at the difference!!! Your vet sounds like an absolute treasure Robin, oh to have one like that round here! It's not nice finding out that Beau has pneumonia - but at the same time - it's now been discovered and treated and will help Beau along the way to a fit and healthy life. I just cannot believe the difference in him! Thanks for the update
18. It'll be nice for you to join us for once Lyn - you need to find yourself a job that's not so Friday night based!!! Well, it's 06.56 am, Friday, here in the UK - and I'm already thinking about alcohol! :woohoo: See you all for a good F.A.R.T later - your leader for Fridays, Jill xx :woohoo:
19. rbpittman wrote: See Robin - true romance - what works for others, doesn't work for some - but to you this is true affection (some see only flowers, perfume etc as romantic gestures). I see the romance and thought in what Paul sent you - I just wish Michael had the same ideas (but perhaps not the same subjects!!) - last year he told me he'd bought me a "present" after returning from shopping - and swiftly presented me with a jar of wrinkle cream - romance is DEFINTELY dead in my house!
20. As a lot of you know, I had Spiky my cockatiel for 17 years (me aged 17 - 34 years). He was with me through my "adult years", through breaks up of relationships, meeting of my then to be future husband and he was my "baby". I would never have brought home another bird when Spiky was alive - he'd always been the only one and that' just how it was. I had always wanted a larger bird, but always said that I would never have a "caged bird" and would happily let a parrot roam, but never really looked into it further than this. When I had to do the unspeakable in January and let Spiky go over the Rainbow Bridge I hated the sound of the house when I came home from work - silent. I NEEDED another pet. I discussed this with my husband (who, up until Harvey came) wasn't really a bird person and he (sneakily) had been researching greys (on my behalf, behind my back). The rest is history - I researched as a lurker here and you still didn't put me off. So I guess Harvey would like to say thank you to you all!
21. When I adoped Spiky my cockatiel his previous owners had only had him for six months. They had turned an otherwise hand reared, quite expensive baby into a vicious, cage bound bird - they clearly didn't bother with him at all. In the early days he would come out of his cage, have a fly round and go back - but in the 16½ years I had him, right up until his death in January this year, I only held him when he was ill . I tried, and tried and tried to tame him - to no avail. He would let me touch his head through his cage bars, but that was as far as he was going to let me - god knows what had gone on in his "previous life". I'm not sure how long for greys - but I know it didn't take long for poor Spiky. He was happy though - and had a great life munching whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted - I think as demonstrated by such a long life
22. My area is very diverse! I live in Northumberland which is a mix of countryside, coastal areas and towns - the one of the bridges is synonymous of the local area (my nearest city - which is tiny in comparison to others)! The local woods (Plessey Woods) The local beach (Blyth Beach) The famous landmarks (the River Tyne, Bridges and surrounding property)

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/29 22:29
