Hi Jingles, I have not long changed my grey Rocky to a complete food, i looked at the Harrisons but because of the price i started him on Zupreem. He loves Zupreem but when i read more about harrisons i thought maybe i was wrong, as everyone seems to say that Harrisons is the best. So i emailed Harrisons and they sent me some FREE samples lol. And last week i changed Rocky over to Harrisons:) I think i have made the right decision. It is very hard to decide whats best for your bird but if you email all the companys you are considering using then hopefully they will send you some freebies and loads of literature to help you make the right choice for you. P.s i also emailed lafeber and jeezo you should see the box of goodies they sent me:P

Reading that poem gave me goosebumps and tears in my eyes:( Unfortunatly it is a very true life for some. I will say a wee prayer tonight for all those birds that are in that very same situation.xxx

Awww Poor Harvey:( Your hand must be dead by now with all that rubbing lol. Rocky is the same just know and i feel so sorry for him.

I was just looking for some information on Grey weights and found this great thread;) I recieved an information pack this morning from Harrison's and it says that a grey should weigh about 554gms. So i weighed Rocky and he is 449gms, as you can imagine panic overcame me lol. But after reading this thread i feel he is a good weight. Thanks GuysB)

shanlung i was reading your web page there. It is amazing what you and your wife do. I would never let my bird freefly. i wouldnt trust myself not to make a mistake and cause him any harm. I do think if you decide to do this then you must train yourself and your bird for a long time, and the birds safety must come first always. Sometimes i feel sad for him living indoors but he can fly around the house, maybe because he doesnt know what it is like to fly outdoors then he is not missing it? Good luck for the future and i will check up on your web page again.

If i worked out how much i spend on Rocky every month my kids would demand extra pocket money Lol.

Thats great news about Francis:) Sounds like he got along fine at the vets, Makes it easier to take them. And to anyone reading these posts for some advice, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if this happens to your bird then go see the Avain Vet A.S.A.P. As these 2 cases have had a happy outcome, not all cases are the same. Good Luck to Francis in the future xxxx

Oops dont know what happened there.

Sorry everyone for the long wait but this site crashed on me on sunday night and have only just been able to get back on:angry: Rocky went to the vet yesterday not a very pleasant trip for him lol. Anyway vet says that i have wrapped him in the towel wrong and have hurt him:( A parrots breathing and anatomy are so complex that even holding them in the slightest bit too firmly can cause all sorts of problems.There is no sign of the lump ever being there that he could see, so he says not to panic but to keep a very close eye on him for the next few days.He also gave me the number of an emergency Avian vet just incase it does appear again. He wants to see him again next week just for a check. Rocky is eating and playing and still biting so he obviously feels o.k. I am just really sad that i am the cause of this:( i told the vet about Francis too and he did say that although this is maybe the cause of rockys problem it may not be the same for Francis so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take Francis to the vet as soon as!

Read Dans post there and started to really panic. Cant get my vet till monday so called my breeder instead to see what she thought about Rocky. Now this may not be true about Francis so please take him to the vet as i am going to do asap. First thing she asked me was what was Rocky doing yesterday, He had a shower in the afternoon then i wrapped him in a towel to try some Aloe vera gel on his very dry skin this is the first time i have done this. So my breeder says that maybe i didnt wrap him in the towel properly causing the air that he was breathing in to get trapped??? And as the lump is now away then it had dispersed itself. because if it was an infection or a rupture then it would still be swollen. I feel really bad now for being so stupid to wrap him up in a towel. i really thought i was helping him:( But i will let yous know what the vet says in the morning.

It was late last night when i was on here so Rocky was sleeping.Thought it best to let him sleep and maybe get a photo of it this morning. No such luck, It has gone??? was maybe twice the size as the lump on francis and right in the centre of the back of his neck. My partner really thinks i imagined it as he wasnt home last night:unsure:So i came on here to show him the picture of francis. I will call the vet first thing monday morning. I have searched the internet with no results. so i am at a complete loss as to what is happening guys. Maybe it is an air sac and only noticable on birds with no feathers there? Because the area has no sign of feathers ever being there or any dry skin on it. would love to know if anyone else has ever seen this?

No way guys you will never believe this! Rocky has lost alot of feathers due to molting and plucking:( well when i was rubbing the back of his head tonight (which he NEVER lets me do?) This is excatly the same sight i saw! i have just came online for a bit of help and noticed this post. It looks like an air sac, very soft and smooth, absolutly no feathers or pin feathers.

Awk hes such a cute little guy:) Was his feathers really bad then? i ask this as my bird has started plucking and his chest is in a terrible state:(
