1. I found my breeder on the Internet and some suggestions from some people on another forum. The Breeder was in North Carolina.
2. MazyAK. Thanks for the welcome. I've had Koigi since she was 12 weeks old and she is almost 4 years old now. I actually had her when I had the Too but they never saw each other or had any interaction since I was keeping the Too in quarantine. She was just too much for us to handle...not sure what the owners did but she was a very violent bird and seemed to enjoy hurting people more than she enjoyed attention.
3. Thanks Lyric. Koigi has been dna'd as a female.
4. I have a home with three dogs. Two miniature Schnauzers and a Giant Schnauzer. The Giant is very gentle and likes my African Grey Koigi. However the other two have been trained to catch chipmunks and they are just natural hunters. I don't trust them around Koigi at all. I let them all take turns being out. The dogs have their own room with a kiddy gate and Koigi knows not to go close to it. If people are over or there is a chance the dogs could be let out of the room I put them in kennels when Koigi is out of her cage just to be sure.
5. You can find apple cider vinegar with the 'Mother' at a health food store. I've never seen it in a standard grocery store. I buy mine at a store called Rainbow Blossom.
6. I know what your talking about Lisa. Dogs do things to please their humans...birds, atleast my bird, does things to please herself. She would much rather throw a toy off the table and watch me pick it up rather than putting it through some hoop.
7. Thanks Lisa. Samantha Von Maximum is her name. She is a good dog. My wife trains her in agility.
8. Thanks...I can still remember the day I picked her up at the airport. She really has been a very good bird.
9. Here is a pic of me. Sorry if I scare your birds: Here is a pic of my Giant Schnauzer Sam and I taking a nap: Post edited by: KY23, at: 2009/01/20 01:57

Post edited by: KY23, at: 2009/01/20 01:58
10. Thats what I was told to get. Apple Cider vinegar and it will say: (With the 'Mother') on the label. Supposed to help keep yeast infections away. People take it too and supposed to be one of those wonder drugs. I can say that when I have a sore throat I do a small shot of the same stuff and it does take the sore throat away for a couple hours.
11. Here are a few pics. Let me know what you think. Here is Koigi now: Here is Koigi, my Giant Schnauzer and myself: Here are some baby pics sent from the breeder:
12. Well we own a few other pets. We have a 5 year old Giant Schnauzer and two 8 year old miniature schnauzers. We did have a rescue Umbrella Cockatoo that we had for a month or so but the damage was done and she was just too much for us to handle. We had her while we had Koigi and the Cockatoo was dangerous. The damage by her former owners had already been done. She was about 15 years old and nuts. She would act timid and would be on your arm...no problems and would just attack with no warning...she was big enough and strong enough to severely hurt. We ended up finding her a home with a more experienced handler. Koigi is a very gentle bird. Her first couple years she really bonded to me and didn't want anyone else even close to the cage. We kept trying to introduce new people and things to her and she finally snapped out of it. She now loves other people and never bites. She will go to anyone as long as I get her out of her home. Koigi likes new toys and likes to chew on wood of course but I have to hang them up a few feet outside her cage for a week or so before I put them in her cage. If I follow these rules she starts playing with the new toy immediately.
13. Yep...Koigi means "one who speaks" in Swahili. Thanks for the welcome.
14. I had my TAG on Zupreem Fruitblend for the first two years of her life. That is what the breeder fed and thats what she was weened on. When she was two years old during her yearly checkup we found that she had Candida. The vet says that the Zupreem fruitblend has a too high content of sugar and recommended I change to Harrisons. I feed her the High Potency Coarse type. She dove right in and loved it. Since we switched to Harrisons and started putting Apple Cider Vinegar with the 'Mother' in every other water bowl she has been perfect. Not a single problem.
15. My name is Eric and I'm from Louisville, KY. I own one Timneh African Grey named Koigi. She is 3 1/2 years old and is a healthy smart bird. I have some pictures I'll post tonight.
