  1. thankyou luvparrots i will upload some tomorrow as its bed time now im afraid speak to you all soon, thankyou for welcoming me to your family x x
  2. he is showing signs of understanding and if you say "hello jasper" in a silly way he tries to copy the tone of your voice which i think for a 4month old isquite good. We are just trying to master the art of poopies, we know when he needs to go as he backs up and shakes his tail feathers and then we say "poopies jasper" and place him in his cage he has done this a few times and done poopies in his cage so of course we praise him. but sometimes he gets carried away playing with dad that he just goes!! hes funny though
  3. is it true that if an african grey begins to whistle he "gets stuck" on whislting and will never talk?? My baby Jasper is 4 months old and now and again wolf whistles (only because strangers have come in and whistled 1st) we now do not allow whistling as a way of communicating to our baby but we ask people to talk directly to him using eye contact. Of course Jasper whistles (mainly to himself) but is this ok or should we not discourage whistling? ty:)
  4. thankyou very much judygram, Jasper is indeed my 1st cag, we have a rabbit (who thinks himself more of a dog) and we have been looking to buy an Africn grey for sometime, but understandably we have 2 small children and we wanted the right animal in our family. I advertised in a local bird trader website askng for information on local breeders in my area and i received a phone call within hours from a gentleman named Gary. He explained that he didnt normally advertise birds until they were ready to be rehomed but as we lived close he himself would feel reassured if he was owned by somebody locally. This was perfect for us as we had read up on so much information and wanted a baby that we could visit and bond with. We watched him grow after a few visits and everytime we went to see him he was always the bird (out of 2) who came to me and i thought he had a cheeky personality. We fell in love instantly and brought him home in november and we could not wish for a better family member!! :)
  5. also quick question my baby when he is being stroked will try to (bite) my finger but also move his head and body in similar way to the way babies take food off weaning spoons (if you understand me) ndoes this mean he still wants baby food???
  6. hi guys im terrie im 24, i live in merseyside uk and mum to our 18 week old baby cag Jasper. Hes been really good since we got him on 24th november but over the last few days hes started screeching a lot. I had several replies to my post in which i asked what i should do, i filled his food bowl right up and the creeching stopped! hes like my 3 year old haha. nice to be part of this forum everybody seems really nice. thankyou if you replied to my post earlier! :side:
  7. he is now still eating but has stopped screetching i filed his food bowls up mkore and it seems to have done the trick, thanks all
  8. thank you very much for all your answers i will try the weaning and see if the problem lies within his food.
  9. im not saying you are wrong steve by all means but could it be that serious?? he mainly starts screeching worse on a night time during the day hes not as bad. thankyou for your reply though very much apprectiated.
  10. he gets plenty of attention (well i think he does)he has perches in his cage along with a tree branch and toys. his food pots are directly either side of his perch and he has fresh seed fresh fruit and veg aswell as water everyday. He has the same food we got from our breeder which is mainly seed based. Evenwhen we talk to him he screeches and bites our lips (not hard) poop also seems fine.
  11. hi nims he hatched on 1st sept and we brought him home on 24nov. he was fully weaned when we collected him and took to seed straight away, we moved him into our dining room yesterday as the screeching was loud and uncontrollable in the living room. we decided to move him back earlier to see if this was his reason for screeching but as i write he is in his cage with the door wide open, eating and screeching. thanks for your answer, very much appreciated
