  1. My companion is just under 2 yrs old. When we first got him he had already had his wings clipped. I was wary at first about letting him be fully flighted in the house but wanted to give him the opportunity to see if he could live with us in the house fully flighted and be safe more than anything. We have let his flight feathers grow back and after much training he fly's in the house no problem. It's probably the best decision I have ever made, he fly's with such co ordination that sometimes he astounds me as to how he does it. But most of all he love's it! He fly's to me on command, if need's be and knows where to fly to and where not, it takes a couple of months of training but is well worth it. I have never had any issues with windows but this may be due to spending an extensive amount of time tapping the windows with Jackson sitting on the window sills to show him it's a solid object, so much so on occasion he flys to the window sills and taps the window to show me  if he is flying towards a window he automatically diverts without myself saying anything. At the end of the day I would not criticise another owners decision as everyone has different issues but when you see the enjoyment they have a lot of peoples views would change and spending the extra time training them is well worth it.
  2. Cheers Dave, hopefully I won't have to wait too long for an appointment.
  3. Hi there, Jackson has a flight feather that has recently grown in. It is fully grown but the sheath still appears to be on the feather and encapsulates the feather halfway up, which is not allowing it to fully open. The sheath is hard and white and it seems to be painful for Jackson when I touch it. I am trying to get an appointment with our Avian vet but this could be next week before an appointment is available. Has anyone got any ideas as to what has happened? As usual your help is much appreciated. Cheers Craig & Jackson.
  4. Hi, Thought I would share this. As you can see he quite like's his shower. You can see his flight feathers that are missing, we got him from a breeder but the breeder had already clipped his wings so we are letting them grow in. He is currently going through a molt and this seem's to help him. Use this adress to see the video on you tube. Cheers, Craig.
  5. Jackson in full singing mode!!!
  6. Thanks for the replies. I will try and get some photos on shortly. Hopefully Jackson will learn to be at ease with Laura, time will only tell. Cheers.
  7. Hello, My name is Craig and my wife Laura. Can I first say what a great forum, I have only been a member a couple of weeks but have found the info very useful. We have a CAG called Jackson who is just over 8 months old, the breeder told us he is male. We have had him for 3 months and being our first bird are really enjoying his company and interaction. He loves learning tricks for example shaking hands on command, playing football and playing dead it's great. :cheer: Jackson seems to have really bonded with myself. He loves being out of his cage a gets plenty of time playing with us. The only problem we are having is he keeps biting Laura. He will step up on her hand on command and happily sit on her with his rested leg tucked up, and will accept food from her, only problem is when Laura go's to stroke him his feathers go up and he tries to bite her. If I am there he tries to stop himself you can see this in his body language. Any ideas on this? Thanks again for such a great website!!!!
