1. Congratulations, that's wonderful!
2. My Harley does a really bad ear piercing chirp. LOL It's modeled after the smoke detector, but louder. When he first would do it, it was only when my husband was right next to him. My husbands ear would hurt and ring. He despises my husband, if he could chase him out of the house, he would. Now he does it if he wants something. It doesn't really bother me. I don't like the sound, but it's part of his repertoire. To try to distract him from it, I'll whistle or make another sound as a "callback." He likes to make the "fart" noise a lot more, so I'll blow a raspberry at him. Today, he was sooo cute. My husband walked in the door and Harley said," Hey, baby!" LOL That's what I say to my husband.
3. I used to let Harley sit on my shoulder. He can be a bit unpredictable at times, so now I don't. He went through a stage where I could barely pick him up without him drawing blood, and he still has his "I'm-gonna-get-you" moments. I don't think I could trust him that close to my face.
4. I like the playtop option, but I also like the room you have with the dometop. Sorry I'm not much help. My CAG and my son's Quaker both have the same style cage. The quaker has it in playtop, and the CAG has a dometop. They're both California cages. Harley uses every bit on the interior of his cage, so it makes sense for him to have the dometop. He has to be locked up while I'm at work, so it gives him space to play with toys, and climb around. I didn't choose his cage though, it came with when I bought him from his 1st family. Hank's (Quaker) cage, I bought 2nd hand, because he was destroying all the smaller cages. He could break the bars off, and open the door of the smaller cages we tried. He's quite the escape artist. He really enjoys his play area. We leave the tray out, though. Otherwise the inside of his cage seems so dark and dreary.

Post edited by: HarleysMom, at: 2009/07/24 04:25
5. Congratulations! Enjoy your new baby.
6. My grey tends to be like that, too. I think the worst instance was when I had to change out his sleeping perch. It had worn down and needed replacing. Unfortunately I was unable to find the same perch in the same white color. All I could find was purple, pink or green! Needless to say, Harley was incredibly peeved with me. Wouldn't use it for 3 days, and then decided that it wasn't going to try to kill him. Today I lucked out and bought him a beautiful Manzanita playtree. ($50!!!!) Unfortunately he thinks that it's the plant from 'Little Shop Of Horrors." He bit the snot out of me, just for bringing it into the house. I'm hoping that he'll get used to it being in the same room, and realize that it's fun and not a threat. I'm not pushing it, though. It's got to be on his terms.
7. I'm so happy that he's back home. It made me so sad to think of him lost and alone. It's one of my biggest fears. How did he come back to you?
8. Maybe, take a razor knife, and cut a square around the egg. That way, you can take out the dirty paper, without disturbing the egg.
9. He's a gorgeous bird, and your son is adorable, too.
10. Wow,wow, wow!!! I am completely blown away, it's gorgeous. Did you need a lot of specialty tools? Like a router, or biscuit joiner? I'm really interested in making one, I love how it looks like a gorgeous piece of furniture. Amazing job, I am really impressed.
11. LOL When Hank (QP)first came home, he would chase my daughter's feet, relentlessly. Thankfully, we did get him to stop. But when he used to chase her, his neck would be outstretched, wings back, and running like one of the dinosaurs on Jurassic park. I was terrified that he would accidentally, get stepped on. He honestly thinks he's one of the big boys, no fear at all. Thank you very much for the welcome, I'm really looking forward to reading everyone's experiences and ideas.
12. Hi, nice to meet you. I'll definitely post some pictures, I have to get them out of the other computer. (when DS isn't playing W.O.W., lol) I bought Harley from another family when he was about a year old. He has his tempermental moments, but over all, he's a sweetie. You just never know when Mr. Hyde is going to make an appearance. I think his favorite fake out, is pretending to want to step up, in order to have someone's hand within range. He talks, mimicks, plays peek-a-boo, and is learning the "pick-a-hand" game. I hide a treat in one hand, and ask him to pick a hand. He's so intelligent, and fun. Hank we bought as a weaned baby from a wonderful breeder. He talks up a storm, and is extremely smart. Fancy, we bought from another family as a teenager. She won't step up, but likes to be played with, and scritched. She's a real sweetheart.
13. Hi, I just joined your forum today. I stumbled across it a couple of days ago, and really enjoyed reading your posts. There is so much great information here about behavior and care. I have a CAG named Harley, that I've had for about 7 years, now. He's definitely a character and a half. We also have a Quaker named Hank, and a MSC2 named Fancy. Hank thinks he's a mini velocaraptor , and Fancy is a cuddlebug. Nice to "meet" everyone. Melissa
14. Greg, if you haven't already, I'd contact your credit card to do a chargeback. You shouldn't have any trouble getting a refund through your CC company, if it's still within their designated time frame. I hope it was just an oversight, and they send you your playstand.
