  1. I am having the same problem. My grey grows a feather, then breaks a feather, I think due to lack of surrounding flight feathers.
  2. How did your vet re-clip wings that were cut too short? I do need to do something soon before a habit forms.

  4. Has anyone had a similar experience where their grey has twisted every flight feather that has grown in to the point where it causes pain/discomfort? This has happened many times now and the feathers eventually break! The breader we bought her from gave her a severe clip and my grey (I think) seems troubled when these new feather grow in. No other signs of plucking!

    grey in pain!!!

Thanks to all, Teka took care of the feather herself! I don't think it was a blood feather but I did see some dried blood where the feather broke. It's amazing how they know what to do. Glad its over, I feel so bad when things like this happen.
  6. Hello, it looks like my grey broke or twisted a new flight feather and it really hurts when she moves her wing or if I try to touch it! Should I try to cut most of the feather off? It seems to be damaged close to the root because I cannot see anything but a twisted feather. No vets within 6 hrs so I'm hoping I can help or someone has had a similar experience.

Is that right? How old is your grey?

Hell! I'm new to this forum and fairly new to Greys. I have a female Congo grey named Teka. She is just over 1yr old (had her 6 months) and I've trained her to retrieve, turn around, go upside down, lift wings, wave and shake hands. She even potties on command! She whistles, sneezes, makes lazer noises and laughs. She has said what what what and maybe hello once. I think she is as well behaved and tame as you can get a grey so I am lucky in this respect. Anyone have any ideas to get she talking?? I talk to her a lot, I'm around a lot as well as my family and she is in a central location in the house. Any ideas or suggestions?? I'm a little worried and probably more impatient. Dean
