Sadness

We sent my grey to the vet last week b/c she wouldn't stop throwing up, the vomit was everywhere. after keeping her at the vets from Monday to Friday we got her back but basically so she could be with us when she died. She is still alive and still her perky self ... for now. Our vet said that there is a very slight possibility that there is a GI Motilly (sp?) problem and that it could be corrected through anoplaste (agian not sure about the sp)and the place that would take care of it is 3 & 1/2 hours away. Basically the vet said that he believes its a genetic problem and our bird probably wont make it and if she hadn't come home with us she wouldn't have been alive today. I thought she would out live me but now its looking thats not gonna happen. i remember the first time i meet her she climbed over everyone just to get to me little pin feathers and all. i hope everything will turn out ok but its not looking like that. :"(
2. i hope all goes well with noddles. I will keep you in my thoughts.
3. ok so it turned out she had sour crop & she is now on some 'yummy' med.s hopefully she'll get better
4. thanks for all of the advise guys! I called the vet & will see him tomorrow, hopefully everything will be ok!
5. i recently bought a 5ish month old Grey & she was weaned when we brought her home & weighed 416 grams. However, she wasn't eating well & lost 20 grams in 3 days even with us offering her the same food from the pet shop we got her from, our vet told us to give her some pellets soaked in water & mixed with peanut butter. That worked for awhile but then she started regurgitating some of it in the mornings before even eating anything. So we switched to the baby formula because she weighed just under 400 grams. When we tried to wean her off the baby formula she ate almost nothing & her weight dropped down to 350ish & didn't have anything in her crop, we have offered her every thing but she doesn't eat enough only pecks at her pellets. To get her weight back up because it fell down to 335 ( i think, not too sure but still think low) and to keep her alive we are back to hand feeding her, she is now 6 months old & a bundle of joy, her behavior hasn't changed, she isn't lethargic, has no discharges from the eyes or nose the only problem is she doesn't eat on her own & lost a lot of weight. any help would be wonderful! we are at our wits end.

Post edited by: Val, at: 2008/10/21 23:47
