1. Could always replace bast*rd with plastered
2. Yep, I'm actually buying a couple of really cheap but BIG rope/wood chew toys I've seen online, my father knows the owner of a sawmill so I think getting untreated wood will be no problem! As far as his training is going it's been good so far, he's not biting anymore and nearly always stepping off my arm into his cage when I want to put him back in. He's quietened down a lot as well which is great!
3. Fixed the original post, thanks again! Hopefully will get some more pics of him and my CAG Jake in the future, I really need to get a proper camera!
4. Thanks Jilly, I'll give that a go now...lets see if it works!

Post edited by: tommyn, at: 2009/10/13 21:15
5. I couldn't get them to display a thumbnail for some reason
6. Hey guys, yesterday Meiko's playstand arrived and thankfully it was in great condition despite being used. I got it off ebay for 85 euro, couriered from England to Ireland! Bargain! I gave it a good scrubbing all over with Safe4Pets disinfectant and boiling water before letting him on it...but when he got on it, I couldn't get him to get off it! He loves it  I attatched some pics just to give a general idea of it, however the pics arent of great quality and the blinding light didn't help either. Anyway here they are

Post edited by: tommyn, at: 2009/10/13 21:35
7. Hi guys, is it ok to house a macaw and a cockatiel in the same room? I know the dander/dust off of cockatoos and african greys can lead to respiratory problems in macaws, but was wondering do cockatiels have the same effect? Meikos playstand arrived this morning and the plan was to be able to wheel it into the living room in the evening and have it in the hallway during the day, unfortunately its so big it won't even fit out into the hallway..so it looks like I either have to get rid of it for something smaller, or move my cockatiels cage out of the living room. There's already a large cage for my CAG Jake and the cockatiels cage in there, so it's a bit much having a huge playstand in there too. My only other option is to rehome the cockatiel, however he's just starting to get tame and I hate the thought of rehoming him and someone being cruel to him. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Tom
8. Thanks for the link Casper, with the Harrison's food theres a certain type you put them on first for 6-9 months isn't there?
9. Meiko was very awkward when I first put toys into his cage and he broke 3 or 4 of the biggest ones, seems to have got the hang of it now though and his tail is fine.

Chicken Bones?

My father always gave my CAG cooked chicken bones and usually said 'Here's a piece of your long lost cousin.' when handing it to him
11. Thanks for the reply Caitlin, I'm in Ireland. Pearllyn gave me a link to Northern Parrots and they deliver to Ireland and are fairly cheap with their toys I'm going to look into making my own too. Thanks again for your post. Tom
12. Thanks for the reply Jilly, I'll give them an e-mail now to see if they'll ship it here.
13. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but when I was at the veterinary clinic with Meiko the vet suggested I try Harrison's for my macaw, I forgot to ask while up there but what's the general price for it?
14. Looks great, it's good for us men to have our own fortress of solitude.
15. Hi guys, not exactly 'Homemade' toys, but does anyone know of any websites or ebay shops that post internationally? After seeing some peoples cages and so many different types of toys I want to get some more for Meiko and Jake, but really and truly there are no worthwhile toys in the petshops in my area, they're all small and extremely expensive and will be destroyed in a matter of minutes. So if anyone has any suggestions, please post! :cheer: Tom
