  1. How does she like wearing a harness. Does it have some kind of leash attached?
  2. Thank you Loveparrots. I will go to Tropical Bird Travelers for Birds. I'll let you know what I find.
  3. I have had my parrot for about 10 days now. I have not taken him out of the house to visit anyone. I brought him home with a cat carrier. I was wondering if there is a more comfortable way for him to travel. Someone told me he could just go in the car without restraint. Not confident with that. Are there special cages for transport other than carriers? What is the best? I will need to be taking him to the vet for a well-check.
  4. Luvparrots, My remarkable little boy is "Zooloo". He is now 18 weeks old. He snuggles whenever he gets a chance. He loves bath-time. If he could, he would be saturated in water more than once daily.
  5. Hi Dave, Even though I was told that it had been sanitized, sterilized and sand-blasted, I did not think for one moment to put my guy in that cage. I have had extensive experience with diseases/contaminants involving several diference species both wild and domestic. I used both bleach and nolvasan and scrubbed all. Thank you anyway for pointing that out.
  6. Thank you Dave. I will give it a shot. And I have seen all the info on the teflon stories along with the popcorn ones. EEEEK! There is soooo much to learn! I should have done much more research before getting my guy for his sake.
  7. You all will be pleased to hear that my boy now has a ginormous cage with many more toys and perches. The cage is 40x36x56! And I got it for $150. It was used, but is like new. He is a much more happier bird and for that, I am a happier human. I tried to upload some pictures, but was unsuccessful. Probably just not compatible. It appears that the size/unable to accomplish. Too bad, because I have some really good ones that I wanted everyone to see. I have an Olympus fe-230, with 7.1 megapixels. On another note; have any of you heard about POLYMERFUME FEVER? I heard that it is LETHAL to our parrots. It comes from using Teflon pans or Teflon burner shields. There is a gas that is released when the teflon is over-heated. So, needless to say, there are not going to be anymore teflon pans in my house.
  8. I went to Ebay bird cages and them looked for the demsonddepot.com No luck. What might I be doing wrong? I am ready to purchase, just can't get there.
  9. Thanks for the cage info. I will do that right away. I hate having him in that cage!!! I feel so bad. Guilt is setting in. Poor boy.
  10. Oh boy! I have learned so much about my CAG in the last couple of days. Thanks to all who have responded to my message. Before I go on, I wanted to let you know that my boy was DNA tested, hatched on May 1, 2008, came trained with the "step up" command and already potty trained. His name is "Zooloo". I have also learned about foot cramps which are caused by having only one size perch. Also my guy came with a bad habit of making a shreeking noise which he learned from other CAGS during his stay with the breeder. Anyway, I am supposed to just ignore it. He does the step up command very well. I have been told to take him to his cage(small) and leave him there for only 5 to 10 minutes when he leaves his perch to go to other places he is not allowed ie furniture. It seems to have worked since I have only had to do this twice. I cannot get him to step up when I need to take him off my shoulder. It is very akward and my fingers are not as firm as usual. I think he is not confident in my attempts. Also, I would like to give him only the best food available, even if I have to make it. What do you think of sprouting? I have been told that lentils are the easist to sprout. Also, what is a good treat? Now, that I've discovered his cage is too small, I need to get a larger one. Finances are holding me back for awhile on that, so how long is too long for keeping him in a not quite 2x2 cage? I certainly would have never purchased it if I had been told that it wasn't adequate. EEEEK. I take him out a lot, but even so, he will be in it when I am away. I have much more, but I will ask the rest later.
  11. Hello Grey lovers, This is my first bird ever, and would like to know what to do when he doesn't want to get off my shoulder when he needs to be put on his perch. He usually pinches me. Just want to know the best technique. Also, would like to know what is the best way to repremand when he flies down onto the furniture without my approval. I want him to be trained properly. The breeder is mostly my sounding board, but would like to hear from others.
