  1. We have gone and done it...We are getting a 6 month female CAG to add to our ever growing flock. She is a rescue, she was bought buy her last owers for the children aged 6 and 3. The mistake was soon realized when the 3 year old hand got chomped badly. I feel sorry for the child but am angry with the parents for not doing their homework first and also the breeder for selling her to them without asking loads of questions. She as been kept in her cage for 2 months of her short life. Her name is Barbie but I am changing that I am liking Flo as I like old names. What do you think? any suggestions? Off to buy another cage well Katka is getting a upgrade and the new one is having hers. She is at our vets and is a sweet little thing, we pick her up on Saturday. Since we rescued Katka our vet phones us first with any rescues she comes across. This is how we got the 4 lovebirds, they where kept in a small show cage for a year. We are reconstructing downstairs in the spring and building 3 large avaries (outdoors and indoors). I will post pictures of her as soon as I have them
  2. Oscar who was the first CAG shres his house with Rosaka CAG, Flo CAG (arrives this weekend) Katka B and G Macaw, Betty, george, Grace and Max Blue Masked lovebirds, David, Phil, Mabel and Lily are the dogs, Ivy the cat and John the snake. Me my partner Petr, Petrs Mum (in granny flat and is a great sitter when we go away) and a tank full of fish.
  3. Thank you the first one of Oscar, my god he was young. Katka is moulting and had a bad clip by her last owner, she is almost finished. My little gentle Rosaka is a little angel..
  4. I leave calssic radio on which they seem to like on the tv I have animal planet or kids channels
  5. Its true they throw food..I have put perspect behind my birds cages attached to the wall, it saves the walls and its easy to wash down and also hygeneic.
  6. The flock seem to really be happy with one another although Katka is never out at the same time as Oscar and Rosaka they are in the same room and chat to eachother. Katka is very insucure and as separation problems, she also nips to get what she wants i.e attenion. If I have a glass of wine she goes mad to get at it. whith the separation I call to her when out of sight when I am out the house the tv is on at night she is covered, this as all worked well and the screaming has reduced to almost nothing. Nipping is a on going problem and is taking time. Its not hard at all but if she nips no scritches if she carries on she goes back to the play stand. Its a slow process but we are making progress. she is really loving you can lay her on her back and do most things to her. The drinking wine well its out of mugs now she made a connection to wine glasses. that one was simple:woohoo:
  7. I do agree the step up command is one of the most important commands you will need. As for repremanding greys its really doesn't work. Remember the are flock animals and are all equal we as part of the flock are equal and not 'bosses' They are so unlike dogs oh it would be so simple if they where as said before you must re-enforce good behaviour with treats and praise. As BMustee said it trial and error you must just keep taking him off the furniture time and time again but one day they will get it. Hope this helps:)
  8. Thank you all for you warm welcome. lovemygreys I am from East London (Canning Town) which is now Docklands. So I am a cockney lad . It can be a mad house here  Katka has a few problems her last owner was an alcoholic and used to get her drunk sometimes. There are no health problems thank god but she has a few mental problems. She has come on in leaps and bounds though so I am very happy. We are adding to our flock this weekend in the form of a 6 month female CAG. Her owner bought her for the kids age 6 and 3. We all know thats not a good idea and he found out the hard way that it doesn't work after the 3 year old got munched badly on the hand. Really some people, if they just did their homework a bit.
