I believe if you keep the rest of Brutus' schedule normal and interact and talk to Brutus as always, all will be fine. Things change all the time, just be calm and don't over react. If you react normally so will Brutus.

What a handsome grey. Love the after-shower pictures.

Very nice update on Romeo. I believe each grey/parrot is different as are the humans they live with. I am delighted that you and your family give Romeo a chance to be himself. Will be looking forward to more updates!

Great looking aviary. Details please. Did you design it?

I have never thought to massage my parrots' feet. Sorry Ray but I had a great laugh picturing you catering to Cricket's fetish. She is a lucky lady!

Sterling Gris loves to bark like my pug. I have spent many a time going to the patio door to let my Lily out only to find out it is Sterling who when he hears me coming is flying in the opposite direction!

There are two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither theory works.

So true Wingy! Louie, the zon, has the most beautiful and expressive eyes. Warm, laughing or gentle. I love Louie's eyes! I could watch him all day.
-
My Louie is very careful with his food. He eats slowly and with meaning. When they are outside their cages Louie is always the last to come for a treat. He is a gentleman and very polite about food.

Oh No! I will be waiting for a solution to this Dave. You are our hero, Dr. Flock! Go get them!

Silly humans. The bird had already dropped the recording camera held in his claw at the foreign spy center and will be back on Sunday to pick it up!!! Ah Ha!!

Agreed, if you can't trust the people you purchase your pets from, then it is time to move on. Looking forward to your photos and learning more about your little flock! -
Ouch Jeff. It is always hard to remember that our greys are still animals. Heal quickly.

Happy Hatchday to Gracie!

I check this thread all the time in the hopes of hearing that Kiwi is now home. If you can, I would update any posters about Kiki's outdoor adventure so that neighbors and all will see that Kiki is still on the loose. Posters in local pet vets and pet shops also. I do believe Kiki has been found and wish people knew that to keep a lost pet is illegal. Hoping for good news soon.

Of course there are many different ways to deal with biting. I have a re-homed zon that I deal with differently. Louie is a biter. I can't touch him without him trying to bite me. As long as I do not touch Louie and let him do the touching he is fine. We have learned to deal with each other. I do use tone of voice to get my point across. I do not pretend that a bite does not hurt. How else would he learn that biting is not acceptable if I were to pretend it didn't hurt. I do shake my finger at Louie and raise my voice and he knows I am not pleased with his attitude. He knows when I have had enough and then complies with what I ask. The important thing is to see that your parrot knows what you want him to do and what is expected. I gesture with my hands and movements so that Louie knows and can see what I expect from him. Yes sometimes Louie is stubborn but I am more stubborn than him and with voice changes he finally realizes that the jig is up and he will comply. Louie is a very loving parrot and tries very hard to do what I ask. I can see in his eyes that he is trying to get along with me, as I am with him. Parrots like people have different personalities and have gone through different situations. To get along, you must try different things to see what works for both of you.

Very glad to hear that Charlie is A-ok. Believe me, I understand your distress. It certainly was a rude awakening when I had my greys out one day in the sun and my TAG started to pant and raise her wings, how could a parrot from Africa get so hot in just 70+ weather. It is a mistake you only make once and thankfully, I was sitting right next to her and noticed immediately her discomfort.

I will have to share this with Sterling Gris. He is a CAG but he does love to sing. Louie's voice is the same as these two zons. Great video!

A few years ago while we were traveling across the US I ran into a raven in one of the motorhome parks. This bird was friendly. He even came into our mobile home and followed me into the Laundromat. I really wanted to take him with me as he was beautiful and so friendly. When we left, he was sitting on the outdoor picnic table watching us leave. I remember him to this day and hope that no one else took this wild and wonderful creature from where he truly loved to be; in the trees in the country visiting those he wanted to meet.

If you know Gracie well, and I believe you do, then you know what she will most likely do. My Ana Grey is a well-mannered little lady so I could leave her out if I wanted I believe. The other two are little demons and I don't trust them at all. Have I left them out when I go to the store, yes. I have child proofed my house so I do feel comfortable when I do leave them but I don't do it often.

Sorry Talon but your being late is not Nilah's fault. She is a BIRD. Let Nilah know that if she does not go into her cage when asked, she can't come out in the AM before work. Be tough! I talk to my birds and use tone of voice to get my point across. I believe they so want to understand their human. Ana Grey is a diva but the most willing to go into her cage without a problem. She flies to the perch over her cage and waits for the step up command and goes into her cage, no problem. Sterling Gris loves to eat so he is willing because he know more food has been added into his cage. A step up command and hand over his back gets him in. Louie is always the last into the cages, he is the sentry and flies to the boing over his cage and with little hand motions and cage tapping he goes into his cage. He knows the routine and is always willing to oblige with a little patience. Remember Louie is untouchable but wants to belong so I do all I can so he can understand me. It is my job to see that my parrots know what I want and how to accomplish that. Frankly, I believe Nilah has a great personality. I have to find me a female zon, I think I want one! Patience, the hardest but most important trait of being a parront!

Congrats to Peanuts! He just wanted to find the right word to say! Great job Peanut!

Nancy be strong, I believe Kiwi has been found and it just takes an honest finder to get her back to Sean. Try knocking on doors in the near area again. If Kiwi is like my zon then she loves people and knows that humans means food/dinner. Ask your area pet store or local market if anyone new has been getting "bird food". Try and let the local kids involved in the looking as children honestly "know everything" that is going on in the neighborhood. I feel for you and Sean, this is my worst fear with my parrots. Don't give up, be strong and keep looking!

It took me a long time but Sterling Gris, CAG, does say some phrases with no association. "Gabriel is a genius" and "Hello Gorgeous". But Sterling loves to repeat. Right now it is" Hello, open the door, let me out, I want to come out." He has also added, "Damn bird" at the end. The things and words they remember. My daughter is working on "red butt" although I have asked her not to she is determined for Sterling to learn this little phrase. In my daughter's defense, Sterling loves to dive bomb her head when she is here, so they do have a little feud going.
