Little Dino is holding his own. He now weighs 3 lbs 4 ozs. He is a fighter. Aubrey, his mother is with him as much as possible and sends me lots of pictures. His daddy holds him as much as they will let him. Little Dino is about 28 weeks in development and 2 weeks old. He is learning to suck so hopefully his mom will be able to nurse him soon. These questions are very hard to answer. I guess it depends on the birds. I believe you can only get the answers if you take a chance and re-home the grey. Please let us know what you decide to do. Good luck on your decision.

Sounds like Milo is just getting his feathers more comfortable. If he is eating, playing and flying around he should be okay.

What a sad story. What is your grey's name and how old is he? He does seem afraid of something. Have you changed anything in his cage? In your place I would just talk to him and offer him treats and go about things normally until he feels he is safe. Let him come out of his cage at his leisure. You can't change things that happened in the past, only move forward with love and patient.

I have an Aviator harness for Ana Grey which once I get it on her she will tolerate. But I don't really want to take her out in the public so I prefer and she prefers to get her in her wire travel cage, have a good misting in the sunshine and dry out in the sunlight on our back sun porch.

I feed my Ana Grey Pretty Bird Specially for African Greys. I have tried both RoudyBush and Harrison and she gives them a thumbs down.

I agree totally with Dave. I let Ana Grey give me a kiss on my cheek but only at my request and only when I am sure there are no distractions. It only takes one scare or one moment of excitement for great damage to be done to a face with a sharp beak.

I have a grate in the bottom on my grey's cage. Some prefer to remove them but I believe its more sanitary and keeps greys from getting poop on their feet. Leftover food and other droppings go through to the newspaper under the grate and I can gather up the debris and change the paper much more easily and my grey can't scratch the paper.

Renate, I have a female Timneh and she is totally my bird. I believe if you let the bird pick you it doesn't matter if it is a male or female the bond is there. I am so sorry about the egg. Keeping looking for the fid that is right for you, grey or not when you find your companion, you will both know! Good luck!

My Ana Grey will be a year old next month and she still loves to be cuddled, held and have her beak rubbed. I lightly run my hand over her wings and she loves it. I hope she will always be my cuddle muffin.

Abula, PVC pipe is a plastic piping found in hardware stores, HomeDepot, and the like. It is very tough and usually vet tape or sisal rope is wrapped around it for our fids toes to grip. In the Forum called "Homemade Toys & Playstands" there are other threads with toys and playstands. I have asked Administration to move this thread there also.
