I must say such a warm, helpful forum here I just had to join.
My name is Mark and I always grew up with animals from cats and dogs to having cockatiels the one pet I always wanted was a CAG. I was always impressed by their intellect and when my aunt, who used to breed parrots for most of her life described them as a very fulfilling chess game I think it sold me. For about 15 years I wanted a CAG and now 6 days ago that became a wonderful reality for me. For now his tentative name is Petie until he's sexed checked. He has a more square head and big beak for the face which doesn't mean so much being a baby but leaning towards the possibility of being a male. If it's a female it might be named Pevie just so I can tell everyone this is my pet peve.
Petie is 6 weeks old still handfeeding and weaning. Today is the vet appointment for initial check up, fecal, blood, DNA sex. He does very well and gives that inquisitive look when making different sounds or playing peak a bird. He also seems to like the towel game and cuddling. He's obsessed with Samson, a reindeer beanie baby doll inside his incubator. He either cuddles up with or stands on Samson. Trying to introduce new foods to him from pureed veggies and fruits to oatmeal and pasta. The biggest response has been to zupreem pellots soaked in warm apple juice.
Look forward to being more of a part of this forum and sharing experiences and learning from yours.
