  1. So After candling... we found our eggies weren't fertile. I decided to let myrtle sit for another day. So, the next morning, I opened the next box and found a third egg. Layed 13 days after the 1st egg. And 10 days after the second. We disposed of the older two and she is sitting on the third one! We're hopefull...
  2. Thanks for looking- they are sitting on two egss now. the do this ritual everday between 2pm and 3pm... like clock work.
  3. Please exscuse the feedback noise. I had to record this off of my TV that was recieving live feed from the hidden camera in the birds room. Notice the baby nnoises the male is making! He soudns so cute... Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlzRr2V2yRg
  4. Here is the link. Please ignore the background noises. The video is a bit fuzzy because I use my digital camera to record this off my TV where live feed was being transmitted threw Jacks from our hidden camera in the birds room. Hope you enjoy it! Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pfx5oYYlHEU
  5. Sorry I have to disagree. Greys are NOT one person birds. This I know! But I do agree thats theres like a ton of reasons why he might be plucking. I would consult you vet ASAP.
  6. UPDATE!!! October 3rd 2008 3 days after the first egg, we have a second egg this morning!! Mums doing great.... sitting long hours and Pap is as usuall.. VERY protective!! I'm exstaitc! Keep you all posted!

  8. These are Fantastic!! Mommy Grey doesn't look happy at all about being peeked on! LOL She is sweet!
  9. I would like to announce that our pair has laid their 1st egg this morning! I am VERY excited... These beautiful greys have been in my care 3 weeks friday. I have fed them well and cooed at them in amazement. We purchased a bird house camera w/ audio that goes into the TV in my bedroom! The live feed of this couple is spectacular! They do the craziest things. Clearly they are a well bonded pair and care a great deal for each other! The camera is mounted to the ceiling and NOT the nest box as I was afraid they would chew it up... Therefore, I cannot see what goes on inside the box... So, the female has been in the box all day... I was worried and decided to lift the lid... AND guess what I saw!! She was sitting on her egg!!! I almost had a heart attack. I had previously lost all hope on a clutch before next spring... She has proven me wrong!! I WILL keep you all updated if your interested!
  10. So, Funny little habbit here. My male will take a pellet, pop a hole in it and dip it in water before he eats it. Not once in a while but with every pellet he takes. My female does NOT do this. Not even once. My husband said... did he just dip that in water...LOL I'm not at all concerned just thought it is strange. Anyone maybe know why?
  11. Tarnold... EXACTLY. I have said that a million times in my ebay emails and store front!!
  12. Its me Ryann. I took while and thought about all of you. You know who I'm talking about. It's not easy for me to appologize. (or spell...lol) But I think I should. I'm sorry for a few things I said MOST of all what I said in the instant message. Totally rude and uncalled for. I was just discusted and had a temporary moment of insanity and a knee jerk reaction. I am still annoyed over Bmustee. But even to you bmustee I am sorry for taking it to heart. Ok, and telling you to kiss off! That said, please be a it easy on future new members. Your first responce was alot to take in at once and it seemed as you were lessening my abilty to raise birds. To Talon, I never tried to start a fight and I didn't say anything in a "tone" that wasn't said to me. Thanks
  13. First of all I will not stay quiet and be afraid of being banned for responding. I was inslulted by Bmustee. The "help" I was looking for was what I should or shouldn't do for the parent greys. 8 people responded with hand feeding babies. None of which by the way offered ANY real helpful information. Just jabs at me for the way I responded to bmustee. So ban me if you wish. This isn't the end all.
  14. Kaedyn- Thank you for the links. I have been to those sites a while ago. But very good info as a refresher.
  15. Thanks Toni. I do know of the left to right feeding. Kinda weird BUT I do know about it and I will have some hands on in a few days. A good friend of mine has inviting me to help out with her "load"! Im really looking forward to it! Congrats on your children it IS something to brag about and be proud of. The whole raising children thing was just to make a point! We ALL have to learn somehow, someway, sometime about anything we want to do in life be it raising birds or fyling planes. Thanks
  16. First of all , having a healthy well adjusted child IS something to brag about and be proud of. How dare you minimize that. Your only 22 sweety. Give it time. Two, No I haven't ever handfed a baby bird. I will learn and learn to do it correctly to ensure chicks are healthy and ALIVE. I didn't get any info from google OR a book. If you care so much you would go to the other forum and read my responce about my exper. to another member. One doesn't need years of "research" to learn to breed birds. Its a prefferance. And yes I came here to learn and get info. My wagon statement was made in fun. Of course I didn't buy in impulse. I know what its gonna try to succesfully see this threw. You can say as many bad thing as you like to me. I have plenty of stamina. I didn't tell everyone about my time and money. I responded to YOUR post. You asked. My reply was too YOU. You have no idea what I'm about. Don't assume anything about me. I'll be sure to surprise you. I care nothing to hear you say good for you. Frankly, there is more to handfeeding when raising parrots. Do you know anything else? You said I didn't want to learn anything from you... well, I'm open... What do you know.. You haven't offered up anything thats worth anything! Just critisism and finger pointing. Tell you what whats the name of the pet store your work for? I travel alot for now... maybe I'll stop by and you can give me some pointers! lol Balls in your court hun!
  17. The "Scared straight talk" C'mon. There is nothing either of you said that made me say, "Oh, I never thought of that". I have thought of everything and have covered all my bases... Althought repetative, I appreciate the recommendations.
  18. I never kew either... LOL Kinda funky looking! Thanks for looking!
  19. VEry Very pretty pictures. Ponti seems like a real character! Be well!
  20. Bmustee- When my first daughter was born in 1995, I had NO clue what to do, how to feed burp and change her. I Just "winged" it. She is now 13, well adjusted and a very happy smart little individual. I read hundreds of "mom-to-be" articles and asked a gazillion questions. If I posted that I was a first time mom-to-be, would you reply the same? There is no difference here with my little baby greys to be. Time? Money? I have plenty of both. I'm not bragging, but you asked. This is kind of like an investment. I do not plan to run a huge parrot farm with 100 caged mistreated parrots. There are avaiaries out there like that. Just a small little Avaiary from my home. My intent is to bring happy healthy little greys to the "pet trade" industry locally. If that means I have help and good advise, so be it. You have offered no advise and no encouragement. Doesn't your profile say you breed a specific bird as a hobby? Isn't a hobby fun? I will breed my greys and I will have fun doing so. I will learn and make mistakes the whole way threw as I did with both my daughters. I only know what I have heard and read regarding hand feedng and temps. Since your so knowlegable and have a career in a pet store hand feeing chicks, why not offer up some of that info instead of trying to find out what I don't know and what I can't handle. Having said this, Thanks for your interest in my post! ~*~ Cheers ~*~
  21. To answer your question DANMCQ, I owned an African grey for a few years a while back....My living conditions didn't allow for her anymore. Her name was Zori. Such a love she was. Anywho, it's not like I woke one morn and said let me but two parrtos and mate them. An Uncle of mine only bred parrots and did so for over 40 years... My cousins still have three of his "pet" birds and they are 33, 28 and 38 years old. As far as research. I've done tons and TONS.... I'm new to this forum but not new to reading, talking, speaking to other breeders including the previous owner of this pair, speaking to my vet and another in downtown nyc. I have for as long as I ca remember facinated with parrots. The amazon has always been my favorite. When I stated I know nothing I truly meant nothing about this specific pair. I know when chicks are removed from the parents. It really the individual breeders prefferance. Any where from 2-8 weeks. As I unerstand it, the longer the better. also, as I understand, NEVER take the eggs away unless of course it unfertile and even then you let the hen sit for a while. And of course if there is danger to the egg. I do not plan on using a brooder as mother nature knows best. I have learned tons and have tons more to learn I'm ready. Thanks
  22. OOOOO, I breed a better hubby!!! So, I'll pull his jeans off and stone wash them.... Poof, He's smarter talks less and is... hmmm Thats it! LOL Yeah, I assumed problems did infact come with the mutants. Thanks for the info.
  23. Hi thanks for looking! Yes, I thought what in the heck.... LOl I also preffer the pretty reds...
