1. Thanks Judy. I'll put some on her today. The good news is it is healing fast. It really was a very small cut. Thanks for all the help. Greg
2. Thanks for getting back to me. I will do as you instructed. Thanks again for the help!
3. Hello, my grey Lilly got a small cut on her toe while playing. It is just deep enough to make it bleed. Since it is such a superficial cut I don't think bringing her to the vet is necessary yet I do want to clean it. I was thinking of using alcohol. Does anyone know if this is safe or know of something better I could use. Thanks, Greg
4. Hi, just wanted to follow up. Lily finally let me examine her wing and I noticed she had a flight feather that kept going out of place. It was an old feather so I snipped it off. Now she is able to fly better and the sound her wing was making is gone. Thanks for the help.
5. Thanks for the input. I'll have her checked out.
6. Hello, I was hoping someone could give me a little advise. Recently I noticed Lily is off balance when she is flying and when she flaps her right wing it makes a funny sound, it almost looks like some feathers are not strong enough to push wind properly. She is currently molting and may be getting a new feather on her wing but she won't let me look at it. Has anyone else had a similar problem. Is there anything I can do for her? Thanks, Greg
7. Just wanted to give one more update. The first couple of days on the antibiotics I noticed very little change in Lily's energy level and she wasn't talking at all. But by Monday she was about 80% of normal energy and she started talking again. Today she is at 95% of her normal energy and when I took her to the vet for the follow up appointment the vet said she looked very good. So once again thanks for the support, it looks like Lilly will be A-OK!
8. Hi everyone, Lily is home but not yet out of the woods. I have to give her antibiotics twice a day, and a few test are still pending but the vet thought she would be better off home. She was very happy to get home and has been acting much more energetic than she has for the past few days so that is a good sign. She has a follow up appointment with the vet in one week. Thanks again for all your support. Greg
9. Hopefully your vet will know the appropriate tests that should be run but for some reason if they ask for your input you probably should get a crop test and a gram stain for starters. The crop test may show why her breath is so sour, most likely something bacterial. The gram stain will see if there is any bacteria or yeast in her feces. As for the bald spots, I am not sure why this would happen, hopefully your vet will know.
10. Thanks for all your support. I just wanted to give you all an update. According to the Vet Lily had a Crop Infection. Basically there was a lot of bacteria and yeast in her crop. Last night they started her on the antibiotics and vitamin reinforced fluids. This morning we called the vet and were told Lily is in stable condition. About an hour ago the Vet called us and told us Lily is looking better than yesterday and there is a chance she may be able to come home tonight with some antibiotics that we can give to her. The led test is still pending and they are going to do an X-Ray to make sure nothing else is wrong. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed she will come home tonight and the rest of the tests won't turn up anything else wrong. I will give you all an update when I know more. Thanks, Greg

Post edited by: Quickdood, at: 2009/10/14 17:19
11. Lilly is unfortunately sick. The vet did some tests and found bacteria and yeast in her throat, other tests are still pending. They need to keep her overnight and as long as she is looking sick. Needless to say I am very depressed now. I would appreciate any prayers you guys can spare. I will keep you updated. Thanks, Greg
12. Thanks for the feedback. I hope it is just that but I am going to take her to the vet just in case, I rather catch something earlier than later. Thanks again.
13. Hello, I noticed Lily has recently had very low energy. She is still eating and her poop looks normal but usually in the morning she is loud and energetic but for the last two days she hasn't been. Do any of you notice that your bird becomes less energetic in the winter when the daylight becomes shorter? I am taking her to the vet today just to make sure nothing is wrong but I would love to hear some feedback. Thanks, Greg

It is hard to tell my birds personality so far because it is still very much a baby but it doesn't bite and from what I can tell it is much more out going than my grey. I hope she turns out as well as your Fergie. Also thanks for everyone's comments!
15. Thanks everyone! She is a bunch of fun! I hear a lot of people try to sell yellow fronted amazons as Panamas. I am pretty sure Lucy is a Panama though. Her nails are a horn color, not black. Also she is much smaller than the yellow fronteds I see at the store. I'll keep you all up-to-date. I hope she gets along with my CAG Lily or at least I hope they tolerate each other.
