  1. thank you glitter, i will check that out
  2. I did a google search and searched the site and couldn't find the answer. Well here is the question. I'm looking for Grey breeders in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area of VA. There are a few good pet stores in the area, but I would be more comfortable buying from a breeder. If you know any, that would be great. Thanks in advanced, Drew (hope this is the right forum for this)
  3. Just found this. Amazing is all I can say. Especially since i'm fairly new to Greys and will be purchasing soon. Learned a lot in this thread and will be tagging along. Thanks and congrats on the chicks.
  4. cool. enjoy your day together!!!!!
  5. Thank you all. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions when I get my little buddy. Can't wait.
  6. in about 6 months. I've been on these forums for little over a year and researching Greys about 6 months before that. In that time, I've read about every book and every forum on this site (thank you all, you are all amazing). I also have been to a few local pet stores so many times, they are showing me how to hand rear and I work with many parrots with step ups and towel games. My wife and I our building a house and it will be done in January. I say we have a CAG or TAG by March or April(leaning towards TAG). I can't wait, I'm pumped and just wanted to make a post and thank everyone here for the wealth of information on this board. Because I was telling some my plans for a parrot and they looked at me like I'm crazy. Except the guy with a B&G Macaw. So, I thought I would share my plans here since you all understand where I'm comming from.
  7. Amazing. I like how he is a football fan. I'm crying laughing. I've been researching Greys for a few years and the time is almost right. I can't wait.
  8. Did you name him after Brutus the Buckeye from Ohio State. If so, great choice. (I was actually planning on naming my AG that when I get one.)Sounds like you are bonding nicely and enjoy. Can't wait to get mine.
  9. Yeah, I def got the grey fever. This would be my first parrot. I do salt water reef aquariums. Completely different but still a demanding hobby. The important thing is that my fiance wants one as much as I do and we research together and plan together. I think we will give a grey a great home. We are planning this bird as though we are having a kid. The grey at the pet shop was one of the workers pets. She brought him in because she knew it would be a slow day and wanted someone to talk to. I'm sure she'll bring it in again and hopefully I will have my camera ready. They do have 3 CAG chicks and 2 TAG chicks that will be ready to go soon. Meaning I will be going to play with them and hopefully be making a purchase. Sorry for the horrible grammar and typing errors, I work nights and am extremely tired right now.:silly:<br><br>Post edited by: drewgrey, at: 2008/08/06 14:22
  10. Thanks everyone. I'm already learning a lot on this site. And Kitty has got it right, Greys do not get owned, they do the owning. Sounds like a blast though and can't stop watching youtube videos of them singing and stuff. Too good. If I do end up getting one, I hope it's like that. If not, I'll love it all the same because they seem to have an attitude if they are talking or not.
  11. Thank you Lyric. I like to know what I'm getting myself into with my purchases. Especially something that is alive. So far I think a Grey would be a great companion for myself and wife to be. We have hedgehogs as well and talk to them and they just sniff and sniff and then eventually hiss at us. It will be nice to have something that talks back and shows some love.
  12. Hello everyone. My name is Drew and I think this website and forum is amazing!! I found this site about 5 months ago after I got home from a local pet shop. I was shopping for a dog and thought I would check out the hyacinth macaw the store has because he was out of his cage and being friendly(amazingly beautiful bird, was just back again today 8/3/08 and they have a chick for sale for 11K:ohmy: ). As I was watching him "cookie" dance I felt a little foot step on my shoulder followed by another. Then a little grey and white face turned infront of my face and a nice "hello" was said. I said hello back and was instantly in love. I don't have my Grey yet as I'm still doing research and reading on this site. Plus I'm getting married soon and am going to buy a house.(Don't want a parrot in an apartment)Just thought it would be good to join and ask questions if I can't find any answers on the site. And sorry for the long first post. Just thought I would share my story as corney as it may be.
