1. Wow Thanks so much.. those clips are amazing. I didnt think they would actually be on the groud like that ..They should really make a documentary on Animal planet or something ..like how they have with Orangutan or Snow leopard..
2. Lilo has a cage that people called a "mansion" that he hardly goes in. He has a ton of toys but his favort chew toy is my leather computer chair... I work at home most of the time so he doesn't get much cage time. When we have to leave him alone in the house..we turn on the tv to a cartoon channel so he doesn't get bored. We also rearranged the furnitures to make sure his cage is in the best position of the windows, tv etc.. When he flys around in the house, he likes to hang out on top of each door, so we made hooks to hang some toys and placed small bowls on top of the doors so he can have some water and some food on top of each doors..Not to mention each meal time he doesnt care what is on the table but only what is in your mouth lol.. I guess what we do for our baby, feels natural to us like its something we are suppose to do. But to non parrot owners ..they look at me like I m nuts lol...
3. Thanks for all your replies, I feel much better knowing that Lilo is not in trouble. : ) Besides the pizza I gave him yesterday, I did find that he broke into one of the wood toy and the color inside of the wood toy is different from outside, so maybe that has something to do with it. Thanks again For All your quick response!!
4. Hi, Does anyone have a website or whatever I can go to.. to see greys in their natural enviornment? I m very curious to see a clip or something. I looked through a lot of websites about greys, but have not yet seen one where they interact with each other in their natural enviornment. I was hoping maybe that will give me a deeper understanding about them, Thanks
5. Hi Everyone, Last night Lilo started poopping bright green color stool. I checked online and it says its a sign of trouble, which got me worry, so I thought if its still the same color in the morning then I will take him to the vet right away. This morning his stool went back to normal..darker green with white parts and clear water part, so I feel better now. But I m just wondering does anybody know what cause the bright green stool? One thing I did feed him different than other days were some pizza(only the bread part with little cheese) which I fed it to him before too and never seen bright green stool like that before. Any input will be helpful. THANKSSSS
6. Wow, Thanks for everyones reply..I m happy to get at least one person that also have a caged free bird. My bird sleep on top of his cage. But he always flys over to me in the morning and tries to wake me up by lightly poke my eyes with his beak or make alot of noise. Sometimes when I m too tired and ingores him, he will just stand near my head and watche me untill I get up. I do enjoy our close bonding and I think partly is due to the free environment. I will def. check and recheck again to totally bird proof my house. Thanks again!
7. My Grey gets almost no cage time at all, I work out of my home 2 days a week, and work from home rest of the time. When he was younger I used to put him in the cage at night and when I m not home. He began to go into the cage himself during night time, so slowly I just stop closing the cage door. Now he just come and goes as he pleases. When I leave my house I just close all the doors and let him have the whole living room to himself..(thats where the cage and play stand is at). When I come home, I usually find him inside the cage or on top of the cage. I know when I m not home, he doesnt go anywhere besides his cage and the play stand. He would only go to other places when I m home. like if I m sitting infront of the computer, he would fly over and sits on top of my computer table which has a small stand. I know this because I m pretty anal about where I put my things, if anything is misplaced or being touched I would know. I try to make my house as bird proof as possible. What do you guys think about this? Am i putting my grey in danger by doing this? For all you guys that read my other posts,I was home both times when Lilo got into trouble. just want to make this clear.. Thanks, all input is welcome!!
8. Sometimes I put a little hot sauce on the chicken bone...Lilo's eyes would be pinning like crazy lol
9. Thanks for everybodies reply. It was very informative.. I will def. do more research on it. Lilo is about 1 year and half old. When he was younger I would take him back to the petshop to socailize. I was thinking if I decide to get another pet, maybe I can take Lilo to the petshop or animal shelter to pick out the new addition together?
10. wow..now I dont know if i M doing the right thing.. Lilo Pretty much roams around the house free all the time. Lilo's cage is in the Living room so when I m home he follows me from room to room. When I m not home, I close all the doors and leave the cage door open. There isnt too much in the Living room, I tried to make it as bird proof as possible (cover all the wires, outlets etc..) so i feel safe leaving him there by himself. Do you guys think I should be more cautious?
11. Hi all, I m thinking about getting another pet bird, I m not sure about the spiece yet, But I want to know what do you guys think. I live alone with my bird, I travel about twice a month and I take him with me. Besides taking him with me when I travel, Lilo doesn't get much socializing with other people/birds. I want Lilo to have someone else to play with besides me. Should I get another grey? and how do I make sure that the new pet will get along with Lilo? Of course if i decide to get anthoer pet, she/he will travel with us as well. Do you guys think its a good idea? Thanks Eve
12. Thanks for all your replies, Happy to hear that my information isn't too far off.
13. Hi Heather, Does Harrison "step up"? How about have your husband use a perch and train harrison to step up on the perch and get a playstand so your husband can at least get harrsion on the playstand while you are at work? About touching her everywhere...I play this game with Lilo almsot every morning called "I got you". I would first say "Are you ready" and proceed on touching him every part of his body and say "I got you". When he touch me with his beak I would say "you got me". Now I can touch almost anywhere of his body, of course sometime I get bit when he is cranky, But I m still working on it. I also play "peekaboo" with Lilo using a towel. Sometimes I covered myself in a blanket and play "peekaboo" that way. Its the cutest thing now that he says "peekaboo" and sometimes he runs (almsot charge at me)and say "I got you" I can totally relate when you said "you are not sure if you would get her" I feel the same way sometimes. its not just about feeling guilty but the fact that I never expect to be so emotionally attached to Lilo. They are truly special, the thought of being without him just make me feel very uneasy. But since I cant go back in time, I just got to do the best I can..Hearing him singing in the morning and griding his beak before he goes to sleep knowing that he is happy is letting me know that at least I ve done something right.

Post edited by: LiloForever, at: 2008/07/22 06:48
