He most likely is molting but keep an eye on him as those areas are prone for plucking. This is the time of year for molting my grey is as well but i have yet to see him look like hes molting other than feathers on the ground and when i pet him i see visible pin feathers. Try to look for those in those areas.

Merry Christmas from me to you both as well, and your families human and feathered!!
-
Whoa finally christmas shopping done wow..its been a busy week. I've been having to see the little feathered boys a little less and they have been a little more needy thats for sure. You all done? Well keep working with sammy id love to get another grey, theres only 2 birds is agree to get and that would be another grey or an eclectus, they are so beautiful but hard to find here. But one day when life is more settle maybe. If i got another grey id love to geta congo this time, not that im ever disappointed i got zuri id like to have to compare.
-
haha thats funny how when your hubby comes home you dont exist. I have to say Zuri is the same way hates everyone else but me. I didnt want it to be that way but he turned that way in the first year. I know partially i was on my own for a while with him so he barely saw another human other than weekends, guess its somethign to work on but i heard greys are a bit harder to break that bond. LAs Vegas got snow yesterday weird..desert and snow hmm wacky world. Does sammy step onto you atleast?
-
zuri is right footed and tiago my alexandrine is left footed
-
timnehs when the feathers are new or after a bath they seem redder but if the beak is pure black and red tail feathers you have a congo. Timnehs had a partial bone colored beak. As well their tails are more burgundy then bright red like the congos. Hope this helps

Well we had weather like that this weekend rained and very warm but now we have 3 winter storms coming one after another started yesterday and they say tomorrows will bring 15cm snow and sunday another 20cm so we def look like it will be a white christmas which is nice then it can go away!! Im sure thats exactly why she doesnt want to tell you, im sure online you can find someone who grows them. Dont they go kinda stale? just be 15lbs of sunflwoer seeds is a lot..lol IS your grey getting better with you? Tiago is much better with me i dont think ill ever have the relationship i have with zuri with him trusting me and touching. I still love him to death!!
-
ok good im glad you didnt. White sunflower seeds cant say ive ever seen those. Its the one thing tiago can not help he'll do anything for them haha So how do you like your weather? i was watching the news and the cold thats coming from the arctic is going pretty deep into the U.S. i saw dallas was really cold, are you feeling it? My side of the country we are getting it soon, it was really warm all weekend i took the boys out fora bit a fresh air but it was raining though. The other provinces here were minus30 which to you must be around minus 20 brrr!
-
ooh that must be messy. hopefully no carpet around. Gave that to mine last year and the wall looked like someone died
-
Please dont think i was judging you in any way..I have given tiago those in a mix i make from the bulk store myself. They both get a lot of seeds, nut etc. I just dont put it in the cage for all day eating or else tiago would eat sunflowers and leave everything else. I know this because ive tried. My vet said there is one kind thats very fatty amd i can never distinguish one sunflower from another so i limit peanuts and sunflower seeds to a few a day. They do get them but in this mix like trail mix i put together with cheerios etc. they enjoy it. If yours are doing great then it works for you. I just know you give them more fresh foods variety then i can give them from what you explain, so i want to make sure they get a rounded diet for mine, because i dont give them as much as you do, its harder for me. I didnt mena to say it was due to price i know it was the lack of harrisons thats why i just mentioned the price cause its a huge difference in price they also had this kaytee brand food but i didnt know how good they are either. I put up the bulb for tiago he seemed more active today in his cage i hope thats why its been so dreary, I think ive seen the sun out twice this week.

I went to the local walmart and saw the hartz food it was called bird bonanza and it was $9 something for a bag of it. It did look pretty complete and im glad it works for you. I was going to buy it but it seemed to have too many sunflower seeds for me. Tiago is a drug addict with those and zuri doesnt care for them at all so i use them as a treat for tricks for tiago. But i was suprised on how it had a lot in it though. I ended up buying a bag of zupreem pellets at petsmart. and looked for that otehr food with the pretzels etc but they dont carry it something similar. So i spent $20 on that bag its expensive geeze for 3lbs of it. I see why you bought the hartz. And thanks for the compliment, you both deserve a pat as well you both do great with yours.
-
thanks im just trying my best to give them every chance on having the best. I dont want them to get ill and say well i shouldve done this or that you know? The expense wont be much either just a new light bulb thats all, no biggie. With christmas coming ive been spending too much already.
-
Thanks for the tips. I will look for both and kinds and try them if i can find them. I think im going to buy a special lamp for tiago i think you both have that and since its been so glum out snowing and raining i have hardly seen the sun so im sure it helps as well. It came to me when i was on the net i have some extra aquarium lights fluorescent type and ill buy the bulbs that have the UV and hang over them during the morning while i sleep so maybe it'll give them a shine boost. and no waste sounds veryyyy good to me..haha i know we've said this al before but i think in the wild all ground animals would die without birds feeding them..
-
hmm guess different birds different tastes. They both gobbled up the zupreem pellets and pretty much ate the whole bag. I compared the labels and they are quite similar so maybe ill give them a shot. Zupreem is a good company right? It is more expensive but if they want a change i cant see too much harm, i guess looking at me i wouldnt want to eat the same thing everyday, besides all the fresh stuff and treats that they get of course. Ive noticed a decline in the pellets they were eating at least. Thats soo funny how that worked out for you with the Hartz food, hmm i havent seen that kind of food up here, I have seen hartz parakeet food in the store but it was all millet and seeds so i always heard that they can get addicted to it, but sounds like you got more balanced feed. In any case like you both feed your birds soo well besides the pellets with vitamins and fresh food no wonder they are such beauts! that it wouldnt matter what kind of pellets they get all the rest from the different foods. I give thema fruit and veggie bowl daily and try to mix it up its trial and error gave them pineapple and zuri told me to eat it and tiago found it too sour so oh well. I ate the rest well what wasnt in their bowl of course..lol

IM glad both of you are having such good luck and your birds are looking tip top shape. I know about the alex's smooth look tiago looks that way to it almost seems like hair then feathers it hard to explain where the greys have this armor look. Question I know you both use different pellets harrisons and zupreem. since getting them on harrisons has failed and cost too much $ in food to bother anymore. What is the best food you've heard is the best for parrots. The store gave me a sample of zupreem pellets and it was fruit shaped and flavored and they both seem to love it, im just not sure if its the flavor or what. Im more curious than anything i feed them both the hagen lifetime pellets and the vet thought it was good, course tried to get me to try harrisons and i did but they waste it. Foods they eat of mine....EVERYTHING..haha Sometimes one likes it and the other doesnt but always they want it. I of course make sure its not terrible for them first. If i had to pick out one thing it would be squash for tiago and any kind of potato for zuri
-
was it just me or was the greysforums down for a few days i couldnt get to this page at all? and dont think i didnt want to talk about your problem it was just funny how we stopped talking about the birds. Its not a bad thing at all, and im glad i was some help to you. My zuri is going through a molt so he's leaving his feathers everywhere..lol..but im glad yours are looking so pretty. I always look at mine and think they look good to some days more than other days. As for the playstand i havent had a lot of time ive been christmas shopping and then i work a bit more later into the mornings so i get up later. I still dont have an exact plan on what i want. Im soo confused, on what would suit me and them the best. As for tricks i got both of them on the turn around now but ive been working on zuri and his harness for the summer so thats where my effort has been. Do you buy christmas gifts for yours? what do you usually buy?

If you knew her better and gave the indication she wanted help id say then you have a good thought. Maybe give the book to your son and he can be like "hey since we are in this together since the fathers are gone...whoa i really wonder about stuff like that, but anyways your son can be like i want to help and this might help US, that is the safest route. Once you get to know her better and she opens up that will be the time to give her motherly and experienced help. Well thats my help..lol Wow this thing has gotten off the whole bird topic..haha, K..how are your birds doing anyways have they recovered from the thanksgiving scare?
-
That is always risky buying a book like that. It could go either way, some moms are so convinced they are in control and dont want others advice, that being said im not saying their arent fathers like that too, so dont think im being sexist. The father should be def helping too, and im not meaning your son although if hes marrying her he could try and help. I have a friend that her step brother has a condition much like his and his mom doesnt want to put him into special classes so that he "different than the other boys" even though hes failing or doing poorly. Its unfortunate and yes she is correct they are usually gifted in some way it takes time to realize it. You are at least trying to help her which is great she is going to be your daughter in law soon.

Sorry its hard to know whats been posted. Maybe ill run teh search for it first or something i dont know. Its the first ive seen it.

I was passing by on youtube and saw this video its soo funny its a beer commercial with different birds in it, Although its totally fake im sure you all will get a kick out of it like i did. It certainly put a smile on my face.

That must have been really rough but thankfully they didnt give the birds anything toxic like avacado or something. But i totally agree that they must have been really freaked out. When my niece and nephew met my birds i told them right away to be respectful and not shout etc. around them and they have never dont anything like that. The locking them in a room was a good call at least you know now right? and that they are ok and no one got hurt? We know how a bite from a parrot can hurt and the damage it could do to a childs face with him chewing on it.... As for the mother i cant imagine like with a child with that condition it must be soo hard. Shes right they can be very explosive and go into rages. Its a very sad thing when you cant connect with your child. In a sense they are a shell and it takes tons of work to get them in tune with us. Although she should try to control this in other peoples home a all costs. Thats the main thing i see what you mean. And im glad we can help in letting out your rant lol..

yes im guessing you have health insurance which is nice, but i know my aunt in the U.S. had a hell of a time for payment once for a treatment and after watching a documentary about the health care and insurance i would be a little worried. Its more the heart attacks and cancer which is nice when you know that its paid for and you dont have to worry about if your insurance is going to cover it, it just is paid for, so you worry only about getting better. Well i hope you had a great holiday anyways and im sure your birds got lots of treats and leftovers and my birds do the same things. They both climb as high as they can and zuri just sits scared and tiago will for a few minutes and then preen like he does 90% of the day..haha. It would be nice to get together you sound lie a really great cook so its tempting..its soo hard finding bird people around here. IM looking for a parrot club here but so far no good.

That is a good call, never thought of the flying out the door, that would be the scariest thing in the world. Wow you do have a big family, I dont think i could handle 20 people in a house at one time unless you have a big house. My niece and nephew are pretty lively i couldnt imagine having soo many and good idea to have them under lock and key, hope the kids know to keep fingers away. I dont think zuri would bite but tiago is verry cage protective so fingers wouldnt last long, once out though he has no probs going to anyone again except for my brother and your right they can sense people that dont like them, no one gets growled at except him. Hmm move to texas tempting but going to my doctor shouldnt cost me a arm and a leg, here i go to my doctor and leave and dont pay a dime. I know that americans wait much less time for treatments but boy id rather wait sometimes then pay $$$ for a doctor..but otherwise i dont think id mind living i the U.S i have tons of family in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and loved visiting there, gorgeous areas.

Thinking about it im glad we have our thanksgiving sooner, there wouldnt be enough time from now till christmas to crave turkey again, and wow its only really 4 weeks away already... My birds are ok, wish i could take them outside but its colddd out, winter started early this year, last year we hardly had snow at christmas. IM sorry your still having trouble with getting gizmo outside the cage. I give you credit it must be very tough when some of your birds are so outgoing and have one that needs so much more time. My family well brother doesnt like the birds so when he does come over i put them in their cages for the bit, I know i dont have to but its not worth causing a an argument. Have a great holiday and the next day you have that shopping day right?

I just want to make it very sturdy and the sheet metal would solve that problem. Id have to say Zuri being a TAG ive heard are more ground feeders than other parrots so he comes down to the bottom well when i had the old stand and eats from the bottom what he drops or toys and climbs up. Tiago yeah hes like a perch potato too, he is just fine sitting high up preening himself ALLL the time, its like ok you look fine do something with your life..haha and yeah i think its just a bad day with him its not food i mean im 98% sure hes getting what he needs and as for molting he finished zuri is starting too again so me too white feathers everywhere!! and now hes starting to enjoy flying again.
