1. Thanks siobha9 , I went back and did an edit. The period through off the link
2. Hello everyone, I just wanted to let anyone that may live in San Diego know that we have open our cat and bird resort in the Point Loma area of San Diego. For birds we offer 'out of cage' time 3 times a day for our bird guests, HEPA purifiers, fresh fruit, veg, sprouts, Avian Natural seed mix and other goodies. We also encourage foraging, we have bird safe plants and solar tubes in the cage room and aviary. The windows are one way so the cats can watch the birds but not vice versa. Our website is www.thepurringparrot.com Yes, all birds must be tested before staying with us

Post edited by: lemurs2, at: 2008/09/28 05:20
3. Yes, he is a he and he is also due for his annual in a couple of months. He looks great so that is why I'm not to worried
4. I can feel his keel bone and I did find some info that CAGs can weigh up to 650 grams. He used to avg around 550 but since changing his diet over the past year he plumped up
5. I weighed my CAG today and he weighed 624g! I couldn't believe it. He doesn't look pudgie and perches fine, not a great flyer but he does get exercise and is alwayys active in and out of his cage. He gets a very minimal amount of seed mix and has about 2 pistachos a day. His regular diet is Zuprem pellets, mixed greens, fresh sprouts, some fruit, some veg, and cooked grains as well as sometimes pasta. We have a female CAG staying with us and she is a petite 461g

Post edited by: lemurs2, at: 2008/06/18 21:02
6. Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and found it from doing research on Palm nuts. I am owned by a CAG (13 y), Cape (1.5 Y), BG Macaw(7y) and a Bare eyed 2 (12Y)+ 2 cats. I own a cat sitting business that specializes in the care of cats and parrots and my husband and I are in the process of opening up a cat and bird retail resort.
7. Yes, I will stay away from where the feral parrots feed not only in case of disease but because I don't want to take away their food source. I did get a call back from the palm nut seller, Richard Sawyer, in Florida and he said it's best to get the nuts from queen palms and canary island fig palms. He said don't pick them if they are green and make sure they haven't been treated.
8. Hello all, I've been reading this forum about palm nuts. I live in San Diego, California and give my parrots palm oil. There are tons of palms loaded with nuts all over the place plus we have some feral parrots around but I don't know if they eat the nuts or not. I've been researching if it is safe to give the palm nuts to my birds and the 2 avian vets I have talked to said yes regarding the queen palm but I they didn't address the other types of palms. Does anyone know about other types of palm nuts? I would like to harvest them from sources where I know they don't spray and package them to sell. They are available all year round but I don't know when the best time is to pick them. Does anyone know? Thanks-
