Hi, I have asked your advise on my african grey being nasty for no apparent reason [to me) had her from 12 wks old handled her every day she did wear a harness, she was brilliant, she was 2, on the 14 May but quite a bit before that she just bites for no reason, I can't get anywhere near her with the harness, I have tried ignoring her bite but she actually brings blood!, yesterday I had her out of the cage and she just flew at me and started biting at my handand then she flies off. I really have lost all confidence in her and I dread having her out, please could somebody tell me why the change in character and how do I stop it! I am so afraid that I will ruin a good bird. Mags

Hi, My grey has been potty trained since 12 wks old,I have a cat litter tray that my husband has made a perch that fits in it with newspaper in the bottom, he put halve a coconut onto the end of the perch, I but a few nuts in this, when I bring her out of the cage she will either fly onto it and "go potty" or she will sit there until she has. After about 20mins of being out of her cage if she hasn't gone back to her potty (which she normally does) I take her back and say "go potty" and she will, and I lavish her with praise. She will leave what she is doing and fly back to her potty or she may probably go back to her cage if this is nearest, I consider myself very lucky as I really don't have any mess from her at all really, if I take out in her harness and she sit's on my shoulder she will fly onto the floor and go potty then put her foot out to be lifted back up. All this does take time and patience but it is worth it. Mags W.

Hi, I have a grey coming up 2 years old, I have had her from 12 weeks, harness trained, well handled, then all of a sudden she has turned nasty, biting at me won't let me put the harness on, reading books she has learnt the power of the bite, could anyone advise me on what book to get to try and rectify or has anyone any advise please. Hi, Many thanks for reply, but she sprays her and she sits growling and when she as finished she just sits there in one place and is soaked, the thing that troubles me and I won't say it to my friend is that the oil glands on the back is really matted and has been for sometime. Mags

Hi, My friend has a grey and it won't preen and it hates water it is 11 months old, I just wondered if anyone has a solution to this. Many Thanks Mags
