    TOYS

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. What kind of rope should be used for making bird toys?
  3. I had a cockatoo a long time ago that I taking care of for someone and she did this, altho she did shred some. We figured she was nesting or something.
  4. I dont have my TAG yet..can't wait to post pictures of him/her...but here are a few I took of my son and one of my son and daughter the other day Im in a picture sharing mood... not sure if this will work..I posted a link to pictures before.. cant remember which code I copied for links last time...
  5. very sweet pictures Heather - you both are beautiful
  6. My friend has two boys, ages 7 and 12. Her AG is ok with one of her boys but not with the other (I dont remember which one) BUT with that said, the one her bird doesnt like and will bite is the one who shows fear towards her bird. He will also get on the floor and run after her son he doesn't like. Has your son ever did anything to your bird to scare him? WHen I had my Caique he loved all of us. But one day he turned on my oldest. I know why though...she had one of those lazer things you play with the cat with, she shinned it on him and it scared him - ever since Jester was out to "get" Kaylee. He certainly held a grudge. Now, out of my kids, he was the MOST careful and sweetest with my toddler, which at that time (before he passed) she was a baby. SHe had no fear and I remember when she started pulling up to walk she would do so on his cage, and he would rush to the bottom of his cage and go "play" with her.. gently nibbling on her fingers, and when he was out he loved to preen her hair. It was quite sweet. I honestly think its because she never scared him and she showed no fear. Could be a number of reasons I think why he doesnt like your son..they're also known (from what I have read) to not like kids too much. I hope Rex comes to like your son, but he may never.
  7. I am so sorry to hear that. (((HUGS))) to you
  8. WOW:ohmy: Congrats !! Someone sure does a lot of chattin'
  9. I'm a stay at home mom. I jokingly call myself a freeloader at times Hubby is a general contractor. I do help with the business when and where I can though
  10. Im unsure if I'll clip my babys wings. Im still undecided. I had a White bellied Caique a few years ago (RIP Jester) And I didn't clip them, but he very rarely flew, and when he did it was very short distances. But, I do have four kids and with them in and out of the house Id hate to lose my bird out the door. Im still really unsure what I will do with my TAG
  11. Welcome! I can't wait to hear all about your new baby:)
  12. Love love love your dogs. They're beautiful. Id love to have a big dog. Just too much work for me though! I have a cocker and mini pin... if I had property, Id definitely get a big dog though.
  13. Thank you for a quick resonse... another question I was going to ask but forgot when I posted - I plan on clipping, just because I have kids, and my husband/kids are in and out, their friends are in and out, Id hate to have him fly out. out 4 years ago I had a budge who's wings I didnt clip. I thought I did a very good job making sure things were always secure when he was out - he loved to fly and follow me around the house, but sure enough my daughter came in one day with her friend, to the back to play with the dogs and her friend kept the door open behind her and my little buddy flew off. It's haunted me ever since and I never want that to happen again , but should I have the breeder clip his wings before I get him, or wait till he's settled and a little older then just take him to my avian vet? I would love to not clip at all, but I am afraid it would be unsafe for him judygram wrote: <br><br>Post edited by: AshleyKay, at: 2008/03/31 03:00
  14. So I have a few months to get all my questions answered, so I'm gonna start asking:) First, when I bring baby home, should I just put him in his cage he'll be in for good? I plan on getting a playtop, about 36" wide and 24/26" deep, will this be too big for a just weaned baby? Should I buy a smaller cage to start out with? I have heard people refer to these first cages as transition cages. Now, when I do bring the baby home, I have read that some people will continue to handfeed something to the baby, just so it has that familiarness I guess? Should I do this and what do you hand feed a baby with? Also, how many toys should I start out with in his cage. I know they need a lot of toys, but I also don't want to overwhelm him. How many toys should I get and how long should I wait before adding more, or at least switching them out. Thanks guys!
  15. I'm so excited for you! Cant wait to see pictures. I wish I only had less than a week. I still have like, 4 months  I bet this last week will feel the longest though
  16. How exciting!I too, am waiting for my TAG to come home. Mine just hatched on March 27th though, so he's a little younger than yours Best advice I can give is to read as much as you can. Read, read, and read some more. Ask a lot of questions. You have enough time to get a grasp on what you will need to know and understand about greys so you'll be very ready when the little one comes home
  17. Congrats! How exciting! I would love to see pictures when you get the chance
  18. I have joined a couple forums ... perhaps we've crossed paths at another parrot forum? Either way..thank you for the welcome! Such a friendly group here. FairY wrote:
  19. Welcome! I'm new too - I had to comment and tell you that your AG is gorgeous!
  20. Yes, he's a doll. A ladies man already His name is Jake. He'll be a year in August... My husband luckly got his boy cause he was the last no matter one. He has three big sisters, ages 12, 7 & 2 1/2. You can imagine, he's the baby of the family, the only boy, and the last "human" baby.. so he tends to get quite spoiled by all of us :cheer: He just had his first hair cut, at 7 months..they took 3" inches off... he hasnt been mistaken as a "she" since judygram wrote:
  21. Thanks guys I will definately be posting questions, updates & pictures
  22. Thanks for the warm welcome guys This is such a friendly forum -I've been reading thru all the posts and I'm already feeling "at home" sort of speak. Also - I already have an update! Shorty after I posted my intro my breeder emailed me and I guess the little one wasn't going to wait till April at all, he/she hatched today! She said the parents are taking very good care of it right now, and I'll get pictures in 2/3 weeks when she pulls the baby from the nest. :cheer: I haven't even seen the little guy yet, but Im already one, very proud & happy Mama
  23. Just thought Id introduce myself. I'm Ashley and I'm anxiously awaiting for August to come, so I can bring home my TAG. Right now my breeder has an egg for me, should be hatching in the beginning of April, and hopefully ready to come home in the beginning of August. It's going to be such a long, hard wait, but in the meantime Im getting things I need for him/her and reading as much as I can on greys/parrots. This forum looks great - Im so glad I came across it. Hope no one minds another newbie Ashley
