Rio is now 15 months old and still not talking makes the sound of a personal attack alarm which my son got hold of irritaes me no end but at lest she mimics something hope she starts to talk soon, but if she does'nt dont really mind as she is one of the family

My Rio Has just said his first clear hello today have been waiting a long time just for him to say something to me after sitting and talking to him everyday.Have to say I was like a new father after his new child spoke jumping up and down and telling everyone can now move on to other words in a couple of weeks

Hv ave been talking to a friend about my baby grey RIO and was telling him that when he is on my hand that he tries to bite ( well nibble ) my fingers and he said to sharply drop my hand and say NO firmly as this could lead to something futher down the line. I have tried this a couple of times today and seems to have the desired affect as he has not tried to bite my hand or fingers, Any comments warmly welcomed:cheer:

Thanks very much. new to the Grays had a B&G Macaw few years ago and a senegal but went overseas and had to part with them as the wife could'nt manage but all birds are different as I found out the smaller they are the more they hurt by the way I live in Crumlin not to far away from Lucan.

Thanks to all who gave advice to me over the last couple of days,To start my name is Thomas Im from Ireland and I have 3Kids 2 Dogs 2 Lizards 2 Horses 1 Wife who thinks Im nuts and a lovely new baby African Grey Rio.I hope to get a lot of advice of u lover of greys I only have Rio 1 day and already he has made an impression on the whole family who rio seems to have taken to already she has flown to my arm twice so looks like I am making an impression on him/her so hope to hear from u all soon Thanks again

well went to see the Grey named Joey he was very flighty and was a bit of a biter even to his owners so I had to give him a miss,then by chance I was talking to a friend and he told me of a chap who was selling 3 baby grey chicks 14 weeks old I went to see them last night and have now took arrival of our new family member named Rio will post pics at a later date,he is stepping up and very friendly was reared by a good breeder now sitting happy in a new large cage with plenty of toys<br><br>Post edited by: thomaszambra, at: 2008/03/27 16:44

Thanks to all for the replies am going to see bird tomorrow and there are chrildren in the house will let u know how I get on.

I am thinking of buying an African Grey he is 4 years old and hand tame and talks but am worried that he might be a bit nippy as i have a 5 year old child
