  1. No no i completely disagree, thats the doubt's i had that my CAG would take to either me or my bf, but with a lot of care, and making sure we spend a lot of time with her together she loves us both, we introduce her to every guest and get her comfortable enough to let them give her a stroke. just make sure you socialise your CAG well and there should be no problems. Remember that greys are social birds, who live in large large flocks, theres no reason why millions of years of this behaviour should suddenly disappear. This is of course my personal view on the matter, I hope it helps in some way. -Terri
  2. I have definately learnt a lot in a short while from you guys, thanx a bunch    I wasnt concerned over her health, I just assumed she was a little different, and no different from say a colour mutation such as an albino. I thought the red feathers would be replaced with whites ones after her first moult, didnt know there was a possibility that they would remain

  4. Oh wow, I've seen red factor greys but thats almost all red. My grey is red factor, the whole underside of her body has pink and red feathers instead of white yet all of her grey feathers are well...grey ^^ She hasn't moulted yet so will be very interesting to see if she keeps the colouring or not. I will get some pictures if i can, she kinds needs to lift her wings to do so, best catch her on camera when shes having a good ole stretch
  5. Hmmm well I have to admit that I doubt I will follow any major routine for Cleo, she gets fed every morning at the same time but like Marlene said, I dont want Cleo to get so used to a routine, that a change would cause stress. I have started a training routine that usually happens at the same time everyday so she knows what to expect, which mainly means lots of treats for her! lol. I think it's sweet how people will sit down in the evening to watch a movie with their family and the birds lol, I dont think cleo would sit still long enough for that, she'd be hopping on our heads, back and forth.
  6. Ok thats brilliant, thanx, I just thought to make sure. I'm pretty sure all of her baby greys were the same price, but I was aware she had older greys for less and wasn't sure if Clëo had been mixedup or something along those lines. It doesn't matter now anyway, the money has gone and I've gotten an amazing companion in return, just thought to check incase I needed her age for any future reference. What I've noticed on her are her markings, she has red to pink feathers all over her body instead of white, which I thought would have faded with her first moult which obviously hasn't happened yet  food for thought for me
  7. Gah another topic for me to add, I have a hatch certificate for me grey (Clëo) and was told she is now coming upto 5 months old, born 29/10/07. I was aware that upto 6 months of age their eye colour is dark grey to black, yet Clëo had a medium to pale grey eye colouring. How acurate is this visual testing for age? she has a breeder ring etc, but I'm not entirely sure wouldn't matter to me what age she is, I love Clëo more than anything, but I ended up paying a couple hundred more for a younger grey so I'm worried she's taken more money from me, which is a tad annoying, as I think she had older birds for sale for a lot less. I just want to make sure I know how old Clëo is for any future references.
  8. thankyou very much, I know there is a new member forum but I had already posted my topic here so thought to correct it. I have been searching this site for ages, now i'm off to do some more researching, can never know too much on grey's.
  9. It does sound like a moult, maybe Makena is irritated at the new pin feathers coming through, they can hurt a little bit. but it does seem odd that it was when your partner when away, there is always the possiblity of coincedence. I hope Makena makes progress soon, has he been to the vet recently? Maybe the issue is to do with the cage itself? are there plenty of toys and space? is your partner spending just as much time with him since he's been back? Makena may have formed a habit now, they could be difficult to break please keep us updated.
  10. I did post a previous topic but just thought I would like to actually introduce myself, My name is Terri, I come to this site loads for information and you guys are all so helpful that I thought I would actually join today. As said in my profile, I am a new grey owner and appreciate any information and will accept constructive criticism to help me on my grey journey lol Hmmm not much else to say, I hope I get to know you lot better, I'm still learning a lot about grey's and am everyday fascinated by them in a new way.
  11. I've heard of many grey owners who make breakfast with their grey, watch tv at certain times with their grey and their grey actually responds to the routine. I was wondering what is YOUR grey routine everyday? do you have certain training times, play times etc. Upon reading many grey stories, this is just something that interests me, how your grey can actually join in with your daily household routines. My grey is very young and very new to the household. she has not shown what she's learnt yet but i hope she will do upon reaching her first birthday  I will have my grey join me in making breakfast every morning but its a bugger getting her to eat afterwards, she's just interested in a cuddle  lol
