I am owned by an eclectus parrot named Cash. You are very right in the fact that Eclectus are very different than any other kinds of parrots. I am not sure if I am able to post this here but someone will delete it if not okay but the best forum for Eclectus information is LandOfVos.com . Carolyn Swicegood runs the site and it holds a wealth of knowledge of all things Eclectus as this site does for greys. Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. When I got Cash we could not touch him at all. He has evolved into a wonderful bird but still a very independent boy. Hope this helps!
I have 3 tattoos. A bull on my hip as I am a Taurus, some tribal on my lower back and this on my foot. It is a plumeria flower with the words "I AM I" around it. My brother has these words on his chest and it kinda means I am who I am, take it or leave it.
I have one for my cockatoo and he doesn't mind it at all. It actually fits more comfortably than a harness does and he doesn't even notice at all. I only use it when I bring him down to my living room where I don't want him poopin on my couch.
Congratulations on your baby! I am very near you..Is your baby at Pet Paradise with Sally? If so, you are lucky. She is a wonderful lady and raises fabulous birds! If so, I am sure that I will see you or your baby there sometime as I get most of my food and supplies from there! Best of luck with your new little one!
Welcome to the forum. I too am owned by an ekkie! A VOS Marie male named Cash...Much different than my experience thus far with my grey but enjoyable nonetheless. Hope you enjoy the forum as I have!
I would recommend an eclectus as well. They are wonderful companion birds and do not have any dust or dander as they have an oil preening gland and not dust.
Well I came home and she was being so cute and trying so hard (under supervision) that I had to take some pics! And does anyone see what I mean about the purplish tint she has?
My goffin's cockatoo loves to play on the grate in his cage and roll over and play with foot toys. I buy a fleece blanket (a big cheap like $3.00 one) (no strings) and cut it into manageable pieces like 1" X 1" and put it on top of the grate. He loves it and I just throw out the piece when it gets dirty. I probably spend like $6 a month on the blankets. I have always assumed that this was safe but I am sure someone more experienced could verify that.
