  1. Hello... thought it was time i introduced myself! My name is Pam, I live in Las Vegas with a 12 year old CAG whom I purchased from his previous owner the beginning of December. His old owner was in his 70s or 80s and wanted to find a home for Doogie because he figured he would outlive him and wanted to find him a home with younger people. This man is so broken up about it, even now. It makes me feel so bad! I know he wishes he hadn't sold him. But Doogie is happy... he is an only bird. We also have 2 dogs, Rawksie and Ginger they are Chihuahua mixes, 2 lizards and 1 rat (we are getting our current rat a friend when he gets better, he is sick right now) Dexter. I am very happy to have found this group! Doogie is a nice bird, he is very aloof sometimes, though. We love him so much already. His cage is open whenever one of us is home and can supervise. I don't trust one of my dogs, Rawksie, as she ATE a lovebird i had about 6 years ago. That was traumatizing, as you can imagine. Well, i guess i will end it on that note! I will also post pictures soon. Pamela
  2. Thanks for all the help and stories, guys! Yes, if I find another bird, it will be a previously owned bird, just like Doogie. So you think quakers and senegals are not too small, then? I will keep looking on craigslist and asking! Pam
  3. Thanks guys... Well, as far as a "wish list". Just a sweet bird. Any age. Sweet, not too timid but not too brazen, either. I have 2 small dogs that i have walking around, Doogie stays on top on his cage. That is how i am hoping the new bird will be, otherwise i will have to let the birds out only when the dogs are in a separate room and that is hard on them, too. Not too noisy, either... i live in a rented condo. Cuddly would be nice, too. The only real MUST is not too noisy. Talkative is fine, but no screaming. I'll introduce myself more thoroughly soon, when i am using a computer that has my pictures in it. Thanks.
  4. Also, just wanted to clarify that I am open to any bird species. Not only the 3 i mentioned. Thanks again!
  5. Hi everyone, i just found this site today! Anyway... i have a 12 year old male congo and he came into our lives almost 2 months ago. He used to live with a Yellow Headed Amazon, they didn't bond or anything but were out of their cages at the same time, etc and pretty much ignored each other. I am thinking about getting another bird which i would like ot put in the same room and have it out at the same time as Doogie (the grey). Any suggestions on species? I have been thinking about a timneh, a lilac crowned amazon, or a quaker. Any tips, suggestions, etc. would be great. Thank you so much! Pam
