  1. Thanks for the invitation, might hold you up on that!
  2. I am sorry to hear about the accident.... but wow just have to tell you how much envy I have got for you, it sounds amazing to be sitting by the pool with your birds, oh my goodness, here it is freezing and no sun, always night, I am craving sunshine. You are sooo lucky!
  3. Hey guys. Her name is Disa and her boyfriend is Olli. Olli is my brothers bird and nine years ago I saved Disa, she was living with a family that didnt care for her much so I asked to babysit her for a while, she fell immediately in love with Olli and she is still in the family. Now I dont live with them anymore but they will always be my family. The vet was afraid she might have eye infection so she gave us medication for that and insisted that they should change their diet to Harrisons pellets. Does anyone have experience with that diet here? I am considering trying to persuade my brother to change it. She wasnt really bothered about the age and said she was in a good condition other than the eye. So I am happy
  4. Hey you guys. My cockatiel is 17 years old. Lately I have been seeing some changes in her, she has a cloud on her left eye and it seems like she has lost her sight on that eye. She has started to stay still on one spot, sitting on the side with her left eye to the wall and watching her surroundings with her right eye. Her partner is much younger than her, only eight years old, they really love each other. He preens her all the time and she used to do it to him too but has stopped. I am afraid that she is in pain or something. It would be good to hear from someone who has had an old tiel or from someone who has had a bird that got a cloud on its eye.
  5. Thank you so much for reading my post and answering He is in the UK now staying in the Black horse inn close to Heathrow, he says its not close enough to anything and they are only staying there for two days, including today so he probably wont be able to go to a petshop, sadly. But at the inn there is a yellow Ringneck parrot, which I think is really cool And he is not a banker (we have heard that the British are as angry with our bankers and as we are) He is in the computer game business http://eve-online.com/ . Thanks again Judygram!
  6. Really? When I put it in I saw the London/Oxford area, that's strange. He is definately going to London and will be staying close to Heathrow airport. He is not home now so I dont know the address but I will find out when he gets here.
  7. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=cambridge&um=1&ie=UTF-8&split=0&gl=is&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title This is his location
  8. Hello I was wondering if anyone who lives in the London/Oxford area can guide me to a pet store there. I am looking for a harness for my bird and my boyfriend is going on a business trip to the UK. You cant get the harnesses here and its impossible to order them (or anything) online to Iceland because of the economy collapse and our currency is so weak that everything is too expensive. I really care for the safety of my bird and I dont want to clip his wings so it would be awesome if someone would be able to guide us to a store. Thank you
  9. I am truly sorry for your loss... I can feel your pain, I started to cry reading that. Don't blame yourself, you are only human, its not your fault you didn't see what was happening. The first thing I thought after reading was (like people have said before me)that now thankfully he is in no pain, he has been relieved. Sometimes when sorrow fills your life, its always good to have something like that to focus on, so focus hard on that not what you could have done, because it is obvious that you did your very best! God bless you, you are in my prayers!
  10. Vaskur loves to play in his cage, usually I leave it open since we live in a small apartment and he is almost always in eye contact, so he plays a lot on the cage. Many times he goes in to play with his hanging toys. He is very harsh with them but talks to them, saying in what I guess is an exaggerated version of my voice, really high, pitchy and sweet "come here, come here" and then he nails the toy making it fly through the air and then adds angrily in my boyfriends deep angry voice "No! Vaskur! No!" its hilarious. And then when we laugh at him for being so funny, he laughs with us, with the sweet exaggerated voice, sounding like an uptight old English lady drinking tea. he is so lovely! He also loves to stay in the bathroom when we take a shower and has started to ask us and other people "Do you wanna go shower?" He also loves his candy and offers us candy all the time "Do you want candy" These are his most favorite phrases these days. He rehearses them a lot in his alone time. The funniest part was when he combined those (of course in Icelandic so it completely clicked together there, I am only translating ) he said: "You wanna go shower and have a candy" Really cracked me up!
  11. When I got my bird about one years old a year ago ( he is about two now) he used to gnaw flight feathers on his left wing. With a lot of bathing, aloe vera and sprays from the vet it has gotten much better. I was just checking now and its just one feather on the end of the wing that has some small marks of gnawing if you look closely. It's a huge difference from before. I also try to remind him who those feathers belong to (ME) and since he likes me so much, I don't think he wants to ruin my feathers
  12. My bird is bonded with both me and my boyfriend, but has always spent more time with me because I am more home and yes, he speaks with his voice and learns from him except when he makes cuddle sounds, its more like over exaggerated me "mooooooshie mooooosie woooo". I am his cuddly person. Its so amazing to see that they tend to do that quite often in general. We know another couple who have an African grey and he mimics the woman but is more cuddly with her husband. Amazing birds.
  13. :woohoo: That is just tooo funny
  14. Hehe I am sure all of our little African greys are spys, like Leela´s little pet in Futurama, Nibbler. We are on to them finally :side:
  15. Hehe that is so funny When I was younger we had a Sun conure who did the same thing with my fathers coffee cup, after that he had to be really careful with coffee, even cold coffee, he just loved it. Here in my country we have very good quality of water, so everyone drinks from the tab, I like it much better than bottled water we get it ice cold and pleasant, I hadnt even heard of water in bottles until I went on a holiday to Spain with my parents and they told us never to drink from the tab. I bet it sounds crazy!
