  1. Firstly welcome to the forum. How cute. What a little sweetie. Echo is a lovely name.
  2. Hi and welcome to the forum. I have two greys and they are a wonderful part of my family. It is alot of work but also very rewarding. You have come to the right place for help and advise.
  3. Thanks Lyric. Chloe is missed dearly, but Poppy and Charlie are great. Totally different characters. I love them to bits.
  4. I am glad all went well for you. I am an Aircraft Despatcher in the UK. I have to say we do not see parrots that often on flights over here. What I can say about the aircraft holds is, that if the airline allows the carriage of animals then for us generally they travel in the aircraft hold. Certain airlines allow for certain animals to travel in the cabin. What happens is that certain holds can be heated. The captain is advised of live animals travelling and will monitor the heat of the hold during the flight. I hope this little bit of information is useful to you.
  5. Fantastic pictures, what a beautiful baby grey. I hope you don't mind me mentioning, please be careful with bells. I had a problem where one of fine chewed the clanger out of a bell into small 3 pieces. i was so worried they could have ingested a small peice of metal. Just a suggestion maybe get a stainless steel bell. In the UK we have something called the Indesructibell. I think you can get them in the US. It is a bell incased in thick plastic. I hope you don't mind me mentioning this. She is such a beautiful parrot.
  6. My cage is in the corner. I am sure I have read somewhere about this making them feel more secure with a wall at the back and side of the cage. I personally avoid the window, one for security reasons and the other because of the sun and overheating.
  7. It is lovely when they start talking. There will be no stopping her now. My two are 2 in June and they just don't stop. It is so funny when greys are learning new words, but once they grasp it they seem so proud.
  8. I wanted to make others aware of the dangers of Oven Liners. I have my own UK based parrot forum and one of my members has sadly lost 3 parrots due to these. Below is a piece from her post on my forum: "There was no way it wasn't the oven and when we checked we found that the oven liner had moved and was against the guard around the flame. It was burnt!" Oven liners are teflon coated. I am fully aware of the dangers of teflon, but had not even heard of these things before today. So please if you have these then remove them. I now have a member who has sadly lost all 3 of her parrots. If just one parrot's life is saved from someone reading this, then Mojo, Kiwi and Rambo have not died in vain. Sweet birdy dreams little ones.
  9. The artwork is fantastic. What a talent you have. I love the drawings of the greys.
  10. Hi there Heather. I have two greys that will be two in June. I know exactly what you are going through as my two are nippy at the momment. I do not responed and return the culprit to the cage for a few minutes. I went through this stages with Chloe and she did not pass through it until she was over 3 years old. What I tell myself is that this phase will pass and things will get better.
  11. Hi and Welcome to the forum. I am new around here. Everyone is very nice and welcoming.
  12. This is a picture of the photo one page one. The photo was painted into a picture for me.
  13. I thought I would share this with you. It is a poem I wrote. Chloe's poem Chloe was my little grey, Special in every way. When she left I shed tears, We only had but a few years. She is missed every day, Especially when it came to play. I will cope with my pain, Until we meet up again. She now flies free, Waiting to greet me.
  14. I too have pictures of Poopy and Charlie as babies sleeping in all sorts of positions. I will try a post one later as I am at work now.
