  1. I feed Smokey a mixture of people food and bird food. He has a few Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch "pellets" every morning, which he dunks in his orange juice. I always give him fresh fruit with that, sometimes the Healthy Harvest applesauce (it has no sugar in it)...sometimes he gets Kaashi GoLean but alas, he's not a big fan of granola. For lunch/dinner, he has whatever I'm having (in moderation--nothing too salty) including cooked meat, always a small portion. I mix in some bird seed mix for texture, and also a good portion of Harrison's blocks to bulk things up. He loves pasta and peas, also uncooked broccoli and those little grape tomatoes (cut in half). And if he's really good, he gets a Reeces Pieces or two; those are his absolute favorites. I've recently discovered he likes those Yogurt Dips just as much, so we're making the switch as I know candy is NOT good for him!! He just loves to tear into the candy shell for the peanut butter treat inside. With the Yogurt Dips, he eats only the yogurt part; the treat inside is discarded.
  2. Smokey gets wild and sometimes rough when playing. He especially goes crazy over his hanging bells; hangs upside down and dive bombs them like crazy. Sometimes he holds the bell in one toe, tips his head to the side and gives the bell a real pupil-dilating look (I call it "the eye") and then BAM! he attacks. If I don't move my hands out of the way, he'll nip me too in his excitement.
  3. Smokey digs when he's on the floor. He'll get into the corner between the wall and the bathroom cabinet, and scratch scratch scratch with his toes. I too say "he's digging to China!" Maybe it's a nesting instinct; or maybe he thinks he's at a clay pit or something. Don't they eat clay for nutrients...? In the wild this behavior must mean something, or yield some result; I think our birdies are doing what they were "programmed" to do :-)
  4. Hi Lovemygreys, Judygram, Tari and Abdullah :-) Yep I have a CAG, his name is Smokey. I've had him for 7 years now...he's my baby. He's also my first bird, and I love him dearly. I posted pictures on my profile page. I'm enjoying the site, it seems like a great resource and it's really nice to know I can connect with other grey owners. Yay birdies :-)
  5. Just saying a chilly huh-huh-hello from muh-muh-massACHHOOO-setts. I'm new here; found this forum from Tui's Dad and his most excellent YouTube videos! This is a GREAT site, so nice to see other Grey folk from around the world!
