My name is Chris and I am a new 'dad' to an African Grey I adopted from a local pet store. I have wanted one for years, but never had the nerve to 'bite the bullet.' Last year I adopted a a beautiful white faced pied cockatiel, and that experience gave me to courage to adopt Emmitt, my new grey. He is doing great... i have had him about 3 mos now. We have some issues to work out because the pet store clipped his wings before he was able to learn to fly... but we are working on that. I have very high ceilings in my home, so when he finally learns I may be buying a new, taller ladder.

I acquired my first grey a few months ago from a local pet store, and when I got him his wings had already been clipped. I don't think they ever let him fly (yeah, I know that sux) so my vet suggested I let them grwo out so he could learn. After three months they have not grown out sufficiently, while my cockatiels wings have grown out twice (he flys all the time). How long does it take a grey's wings to grow? Thanks, Chris
